A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 402

Just as the rest of the Morgan family filed into Holden's hospital room, they spotted Iris pouting by his bedside.

"What's wrong, Iris?" Owen Morgan asked. He was holding Yvonne Sutton's hand, while his parents, Beatrice and Lyndon, followed closely behind. The whole family had come to get Beatrice's arm checked, using the doctors' lunch break to visit Holden in the inpatient ward.

Iris quickly recounted her idea.

Owen scoffed. "Ask Winifred to set Mom's bone? Are you joking?"

The family was well aware of Winifred's background. Aside from their deep-seated hatred for her—blaming her for seducing Holden and making Iris fight tooth and nail for a divorced man—they fundamentally looked down on her.

"A nobody doctor who got fired by the Sutton family and blacklisted by the national medical board? You think she's qualified to treat our mother?" Owen lifted his chin, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "You think she's better than the nationally renowned specialists we saw this morning?"

Even the white-haired veteran specialist at the orthopedic clinic hadn't been able to fix it. Who did Winifred think she was?

Yvonne draped an arm over Iris's shoulder and spoke affectionately. "Owen is right. There's no point in relying on Winifred. You know my grandmother fired her because her medical skills were a joke. No other hospital would even hire her. She has no right to touch Mom's arm."

Beatrice chimed in. "That ex-wife only brings us bad luck. Let's drop it. We managed to get a VIP appointment with Dr. Lowe. He's the head of the national orthopedics association. Once he sees me, I'll be perfectly fine."

Listening to her family spew such ignorant remarks, Iris felt a flicker of panic. The real Winifred wasn't a quack. She had successfully set Holden's shattered bones and had single-handedly extended Nelly Sutton's life by two years when she was suffering from cancer.

Iris looked down at Holden. "What do you think, honey?"

Holden knew exactly what Winifred was capable of. He could either swallow his pride and go beg her, or he could speak up and correct his family's misconceptions. Right now, Iris desperately needed him to step up and back her play.

Holden's lips moved slightly. "Listen to your brother. He's an excellent judge of character."

Since Yvonne was standing right there, it was the perfect opportunity to flatter Owen. Iris decided not to push the issue.
