An hour. Yardley hadn't gone there to argue with their father—he had gone there to get to her, but Elmer's guards had intercepted him. The blowout must have been massive for Elmer to consider excommunicating his only son.
Starla gave a cold laugh. "Kicked out. I guess Susanna really was the love of his life."
They had assumed Yardley's affection for Susanna was just another calculated move. Given his track record—including using his own sister—it was hard to believe he was capable of genuine love. But the truth was undeniably clear now.
"I'm going over there," Starla said, standing up.
