A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 377

Darleen, Brinley, and Xenia rushed to the airport, desperate to buy tickets to Hansville City.

Their anger at Starla was matched only by their helplessness. Hansville City was their escape, a place where they could live without this constant torment. They would leave Fairfax to deal with the monster he had married.

Brinley, who had once been so possessive of Fairfax, no longer cared if leaving him alone with Starla might rekindle their relationship. All she wanted was to get away.

“I can’t believe she has so much power,” Darleen muttered, “forcing us out of our own city.”

“I know,” Xenia agreed. “I just hope that by the time we come back, Fairfax has gotten rid of her for good. If this continues, we’re all going to go crazy.”

Brinley’s eyes darkened. Starla was certainly cunning, managing to hold onto Fairfax while simultaneously keeping Herbert on a string. How had they never seen it before?

But what good would her schemes do her in the end? Fairfax was clearly sick of her, and after her recent behavior, there was no chance of their relationship recovering. As for Herbert, even if she did divorce Fairfax, the Farley family would never accept a divorcée. She was destined to lose, whether with the Yelchins or the Farleys. Leaving her alone with Fairfax for a while was a risk Brinley was willing to take.

The thought brought her a small measure of comfort.

Just as the three women were imagining a peaceful life in Hansville City, the ticketing agent checked their IDs and handed them back.

“I’m sorry, ladies, but your records show that you are currently restricted from leaving Marina City.”

Xenia, Darleen, and Brinley stared at the agent, stunned into silence.

“I’m sorry, but we don’t have access to that information.”

It was a pointless question, really. They all knew who was behind this. Who else could it be but Starla? She was ruthless, truly without limits. And Herbert… he must have helped her. Was he really so infatuated that he would risk offending both the Yelchin and Seabrook families?

They stumbled out of the airport in a daze, not quite sure how they made it back to the car.

Once inside, Darleen turned to Xenia, her voice a venomous hiss. “I don’t care what it takes, you have to win over Herbert!”

Fairfax was clearly done with Starla. If they could just cut off her support from Herbert, she would be powerless—a nobody, finally in the palm of their hands.
