A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 656

Tanya's car was parked at the estate, and there was zero chance Starla would let her drivers give them a ride. Darian was just trying to hitch a ride back to the city!

Caden glared at Darian. "So, is she driving us or what?"

"Did you not hear her? She told us to walk."

Caden groaned, rubbing his temples. Women. None of them were merciful. He felt like his lungs were about to collapse.

"Wait," Caden realized. "They wouldn't let our car in because Fairfax was in it. But he's not in it anymore! We can just call the driver to come up and get us!"

"Try it then," Darian muttered, exhausted beyond belief. He honestly debated just sleeping on the floor in the foyer. This was ridiculous. Hours of drinking, followed by miles of hiking!

Caden quickly dialed their driver. "Bring the car up to the front doors."

"I'm sorry, Mr. Larson," the driver replied awkwardly. "The guards still won't let me through."

"What?! Why not?!" Caden was losing his mind. Fairfax wasn't even in the car! This was pure spite.

"They didn't give a reason, sir."

Caden ended the call, his head throbbing.

...

On the agonizing walk back down the hill, Caden and Darian were still complaining.

"I just don't get it," Caden vented. "How could Faraday be so blind? How could Brinley betray a great guy like him for a piece of trash like Felix Fowler?"

"Fairfax must be absolutely furious," Darian noted.

"You saw how much he drank! He's losing his mind over it."

Fairfax had put blind faith in Brinley for years. Now, the paternity test proved the child wasn't even his brother's. It was a horrifying betrayal.

"That woman is pure poison," Darian sneered. "Fairfax sacrificed everything for her!"

Smack!

Darleen backhanded the maid across the face. She was a woman unhinged, ready to destroy anyone who stepped in her path.

Enough? How could it be enough? Her beloved son was dead. The grandson she thought was her last piece of him was actually the bastard of her family's enemy. Faraday had been betrayed in the worst possible way. They had all been played for absolute fools!

Even killing Brinley wouldn't be enough to quench her rage!

Sally held her stinging cheek. She had only tried to step in because of her years serving the Seabrook family, thinking that maybe, just maybe, they would bounce back. But after that slap, Sally glared at Brinley, turned on her heel, and marched back to her cot, leaving her to the wolves. She wasn't getting involved anymore.

Slap! Another brutal strike landed right across Brinley's face.

Brinley trembled violently, the freezing basement air biting into her skin.

"You filthy tramp!" Darleen shrieked. "My Faraday gave you everything! How could you be so utterly disgusting as to sleep with Felix?!"
