A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 671

Starla could be truly ruthless when she wanted to be.

Fairfax wasn't even allowed in the consumption area; on his way back to his own home, he had been forced to get out of the car halfway and walk.

Hearing Tanya recount this, Starla replied coolly, "That’s nothing. It’s not enough—not nearly enough!"

Tanya thought that it really wasn't enough. But for Fairfax...

Thinking about how good he used to be to Starla, Tanya couldn't help but say, "If it weren't for Brinley, you two probably wouldn't have reached this point."

After all, the wedge between Starla and Fairfax wasn't just a simple mother-in-law conflict.

It was about Brinley. That was a relationship dynamic impossible to tolerate.

Starla fell silent.

For a long moment, Tanya thought she wouldn't answer, but finally, Starla murmured, "We still would have."

Tanya paused, processing the words. Then, looking at Starla, fragments of recent revelations flashed through her mind. "Right. There's also your mother."

Once the truth came out that Darleen had caused her mother's death, Starla would inevitably seek a harsh reckoning with both Darleen and Harley Yelchin.

When that day came, would Fairfax, caught in the middle, just stand by and let her tear his family apart?

No. Whether Brinley was in the picture or not, their marriage was always destined to end in ruins.

*Buzz.* Herbert's call came through.

Starla answered, "Tanya is with me."

"Hmm?" The man on the other end chuckled, clearly amused that she opened with that.

"Didn't you send her to keep an eye on me?" Starla shot back. "You’re really something, manipulating the people right next to me."

Go back? After everything had been torn to shreds? After she had practically turned the entire Yelchin family upside down?

"I can tell Herbert is dead set on you," Tanya noted. "This isn't a sudden whim. His feelings seem deeply rooted—premeditated, even. You two must have known each other a long time ago."

Starla fell silent again. She searched her memory, but she truly couldn't recall any shared past with Herbert.

"Whatever the case, you need to finalize things with your ex-husband first."

"Don't worry," Starla said coolly. "He'll be coming to me to end it very soon."

Everything was out in the open now. Fairfax knew that keeping her at the Yelchin estate would only subject his family to a living hell. The only option left for him was to sever ties with her at any cost.

Just then, a loud commotion erupted outside.

Starla and Tanya both looked toward the window.
