Chapter 127
Ashley’s POV
To be honest, this VIP lounge was hands down the most luxurious part of the entire Alpha Manor. Plush sofas, priceless antique paintings on the walls, and even the air smelled expensive with hints of ambergris lingering around. Sitting in this room that felt like it came straight out of a royal palace, I had every intention of savoring my warm cup of tea and calming down after the ridiculous encounter I’d just had at the entrance.
But now, I really needed to use the bathroom.
And guess what? Not a single toilet in this lavish suite! A maid, looking quite apologetic, explained that because this castle was so old–and for the sake of maintaining its damned “historical charm“-there weren’t any modern private bathrooms in the VIP lounges. If I needed to take care of business, I’d have to walk all the way down that long hallway to the public restroom on the other side of the hall.
The wave of irritation hit me almost instantly. Taking a deep breath to keep my composure, I grabbed the hem of my dress, adjusted my heels, and reluctantly stepped out of the lounge.
As I stepped into the edge of the lavish banquet hall, I had one simple goal–slip unnoticed to the restroom along the wall. But of course, fate had other plans for me.
The massive crystal chandelier in the center of the room cast its dazzling glow, landing squarely on me like a spotlight. For a second, the once–bustling hall descended into an eerie silence. Countless pairs of eyes, sharp and probing like searchlights, locked onto my face all at once.
The well–dressed noble Alphas froze mid–conversation, their champagne glasses halted mid–air. The air thickened with an overpowering wave of Alpha pheromones, a mix of excitement and raw hunger. Their stares held a mix of shock, infatuation, and, frankly, an unsettling kind of longing.
I gripped the edge of my clutch so tightly it might’ve left marks, my stomach clenched under the weight of their invasive gazes. It had to be the damn custom dress too eye–catching or maybe it was the castle’s dramatic lighting making everything far more surreal than it should be.
God help me! Right now, all I could think about, from the very depths of my being, was one absolute truth: I can’t hold it much longer!
I lifted my chin, forcing myself to maintain the composed, icy demeanor of an acting Luna. I didn’t spare even a glance at the Alphas who were clearly itching to approach me. With brisk, determined steps, I headed straight for the restroom at the end of the hallway.
Leaning over the sink, I carefully reapplied that flawless layer of lipstick, my reflection in the mirror as poised as ever. Finally, a long breath escaped me. After tidying up my dress, I pushed open the wooden restroom door, its stained glass panels catching the light. Time to head back to my lounge.
But then, my steps came to an abrupt halt on the Persian carpet in the hallway.
Standing there in my path, like two venomous statues radiating malice, were figures I would have preferred never
to see.
Front and center was Cecilia. Her strikingly fierce, beautiful face was now twisted with a toxic mix of jealousy and barely–contained rage.
Beside her, holding up Cecilia’s dress like some pitifully loyal pet, was a woman who made my eyes narrow sharply.
