Chapter 129
Cecilia’s POV
I swear, I wanted to tear out her throat right then and there.
But I forced myself to tamp down that raging impulse.
“Princess Cecilia!” Selena stood behind me, her tone filled with impatience and disbelief. “I don’t get it! You‘ the noble princess of the Darkriver Pack! You hold absolute power and status! Why didn’t you just smack that pathetic excuse of an omega to death right away? Using Hebert’s name to threaten you? That’s straight–up outrageous!”
I spun around sharply, fixing her with a cold, almost condescending glare, as if she were utterly clueless.
“Shut up, Selena.” I smoothed down my dress irritably and stormed back toward the lavish lounge, my heels clicking against the floor. “Do you think I don’t want to kill her? But there’s no way I can make a move myself. Hebert, with all his calm and restraint on the surface, has a terrifying obsession with control over his territory and absolute authority. If I let my anger ruin his plans today, he wouldn’t hesitate to come after me. And I’m not about to risk provoking him over a worthless omega.” Sitting gracefully on the silk couch, I picked up the cup of slightly cooled tea on the table and took a small sip. My eyes narrowed slightly as I shot a sharp, scrutinizing look at the Stoneborn Pack princess, who sat across from me, seething with anger.
“Well, I can’t help but wonder, Selena,” I said with a cold smirk. “The way you were just now, practically looking like you wanted to rip Ashley to shreds–it’s almost more intense than me. If I remember right, didn’t you two used to be inseparable back at the academy? You followed her around all day like some loyal little lapdog. So, what happened? How did you end up hating her more than I do?”
Selena’s face darkened instantly, her eyes burning with a venomous jealousy.
“Friends? That fake little witch doesn’t deserve to be called my friend!” Selena spat, her voice sharp and shrill. Her features twisted into a mask of bitterness and rage. “Back then, she didn’t protect me out of some so–called kindness! She was using me–some weakling from a third–rate pack–to make herself look even better as the Silvermoon Pack princess. It was all to show everyone in the academy how high and mighty, how oh–so- charitable she was! I can’t stand that smug, condescending look of hers, like she’s always doing me some huge
favor.”
Her breathing grew heavy, her chest heaving with the weight of her fury.
Hearing such venomous words, I nodded in satisfaction.
“Very well, Selena. Your honesty pleases me.” I set down my teacup, leaning forward slightly as my voice took on a seductive tone. “Since you despise that two–faced fraud so much, why don’t we strike a deal? You help me get rid of Ashley completely, make sure she’s gone from the Bloodmoon Pack’s territory for good, never to interfere with me and Hebert’s future again. In return, I’ll seriously consider persuading my father to agree to a collaboration between the mighty Darkriver Pack and your… less impressive Stoneborn Pack. So, what do you say?”
Selena’s eyes lit up instantly. For a princess from a third–rate pack, this was undeniably a generous offer.
“Do you really mean it, Princess Cecilia?” she stammered, her voice trembling with excitement.
“I always keep my word,” I said, raising my chin arrogantly. “But, you need to do a flawless job, and under no circumstances can Hebert suspect I had anything to do with it.” After all, if someone else carried out the plan, no matter how furious Hebert might get, he’d never be able to pin the blame on me. “Don’t worry! I’ve got the perfect plan for this!” Selena leaned in, her voice dropping to a whisper. “This will not only make Ashley leave the Bloodmoon Pack for good, bu
straight into utter despair!”

“Oh?” I raised an eyebrow. “Let’s hear it.”
“It’s about the current Alpha of the Silvermoon Pack, Paul,” Selena said with a sly grin. “Ashley’s cold–blooded uncle.”
I snorted, unimpressed. “That useless Alpha who can’t even tolerate his own niece? What good is he?”
“You don’t know the half of it, Princess Cecilia.” Selena’s eyes gleamed with cunning. “Ever since Ashley’s parents died in battle, the Silvermoon Pack has been falling apart under Paul’s leadership. They’re in such bad shape that they can barely stock enough food for the winter. A few days ago, I overheard my father mention something shocking–Paul, desperate to save his crumbling rule, actually went to the Darkened Lands and sought out that vile Black Witch for help to gain power.”
The Black Witch? A shiver ran down my spine. Even across the werewolf territories, her name was synonymous
with fear.
“And then?” I pressed her, my voice taut with intrigue.
“The Black Witch told Paul that his claim to the Alpha position was illegitimate–completely unapproved by the Moon Goddess. That’s why the Silvermoon territory lost all its blessings,” Selena said, her voice quivering with excitement as she swallowed hard. “The way to overturn this? He has to find someone with a pure Alpha bloodline and carry out an ancient, brutal sacrifice! Only the blood of true Alpha lineage can cleanse his sins and restore the Moon Goddess’s favor!”
A sacrifice of true Alpha blood?!
It was like my mind had been struck by a blinding bolt of lightning. Suddenly, everything clicked together perfectly!
Ashley is the biological daughter of the former Silvermoon Alpha. Running through her veins is the purest, most legitimate Silvermoon Alpha blood!
“Selena, oh my god, you’re a genius!” I couldn’t help but burst into laughter, the overwhelming thrill swallowing me whole. This was the perfect trap, a game laid out by the Moon Goddess herself!
Paul is desperate to cling to his power and position–he’ll stop at nothing to capture Ashley. He’ll hand over his own niece without a second thought, offering her up to the Black Witch’s altar with no hesitation.
“Selena, there’s something you need to do right now.” I shot to my feet, cutting straight to the point. “Find Paul. I spotted that old fox in the hall earlier. Slip him a little hint about Ashley’s whereabouts tonight.”
“Understood, Princess Cecilia! I’ll make sure it’s done flawlessly,” Selena said with a sharp bow, her tone dripping with excitement. Spinning on her heel, she stormed out of the lounge, her heels clicking sharply on the floor as if the very air turned colder with her venomous intent.
