Chapter 132

Hebert’s POV

“You’re out of your damn mind!Ashley’s voice echoed through the lavish lounge, each word like a poisoned dagger stabbing right into my heart.

I stared down at her from above. Her usually clear eyes were now blazing with fury, a thin sheen of tears glistening in them. Those tearsthey burned like acid, eating away at the softest corner of my being. I could see it, the raw hurt hidden just beneath her anger.

Moon Goddess, I wanted nothing more than to pull her into my arms, to kiss away those tears, to pour out everything I felt for her. But she didn’t love me. That thought hollowed me out, leaving a metallic bitterness swirling in my chest.

Still, I couldn’t back down. I wouldn’t.

Tearing my gaze from her pale, anguished face, I turned my attention to Paul, who was sprawled pathetically on the carpet. That cunning bastard had the audacity to show up here, on my territory, spewing his nonsense and thinking he could take away the only soulmate I would ever have.

Paul’s eagerness, as if he couldn’t wait to drag Ashley back to the Silvermoon Pack, had nothing to do with some nonsense about territory decline. My instincts screamed like sirens in my mind. There was definitely something dark and dangerous at play here. That greedy jackal had his eyes on something unique about Ashley, I was sure of

  1. it.

But I had no solid proof to back it upyet.

What truly drove me to the edge of losing control wasn’t Paul’s pathetic schemes. Noit was Ashley’s reaction just now.

She was actually willing to leave. She wanted to walk away from me.

Take your pitiful lies and get the hell out of my sight. My voice was steady, my eyes narrowing slightly. There was no need to shouttrue power spoke for itself. Paul, this is your final warning. If you dare step foot on Bloodmoon Pack territory again, I’ll rip your head off myself and hang it at the front gates of the Silvermoon Alpha Manor.

Paul’s whole body trembled violently. He couldn’t even stammer a proper response. Scrambling to his feet, he dragged Elder Winonawho was just as paleout of the lounge with him, stumbling in sheer humiliation.

A dull boomechoed behind them as the heavy redwood door slammed shut.

Now, it was just me and Ashley.

The air was suffocatingly tense, charged with an explosive mix of anger and unspoken words. The icy scent of cedar mixed with the soft, sweet fragrance lingering on her, colliding in the confined space like a storm waiting to break.

Ashley took two sharp steps back, creating distance between us. Her slender arms were crossed tightly over her chest.

You have no right to do this, Hebert!she yelled at me, her voice trembling with anger so intense it shook. You have no authority to take away my freedom! And you dare use innocent lives from the Silvermoon Pack to threaten me? Between us, there’s nothing but that contractno actual connection whatsoever!

No connection whatsoever.

Those words hit me like a heavy blow.

I clenched my molars tightly, my jawline stiff and unyielding. The beast inside me roared to break free, but I fought to keep it under control.

How dare she say something so cruel!

To her, I was nothing but a cold, bloodless contractor a man she could discard at any moment.

I knew the truth: Ashley had absolutely no love for me. Brian’s betrayal had shattered her heart, locking it away behind a fortress of ice. She didn’t love me, and my consuming, burning affection wasn’t enough to make her stay.

If love can’t keep her by my side, then I’ll use power, workhell, even dirty threats of war! I can’t stand the agony of losing her again. Even if she hates me, even if she thinks I’m an insane tyrant, I’ll make sure she’s tied to Bloodmoon Pack’s territory, no matter what!

I took a step forward, slow but relentless, each movement radiating pressure.

Stop! Don’t come any closer!Ashley’s voice trembled as she backed away until her shoulders hit the cold wall behind her. She was trapped, glaring at me like a cornered animal. Hebert! You’re a controlobsessed psycho! Let me go!
