Chapter 143
Cecilia’s POV
Damn it! Things have gotten way worse than I expected!
I bit down hard on my lower lip, the fiery jealousy in my chest threatening to burn me from the inside out. That defective Omega with no wolf spirit–Ashley! What kind of spell has she put on Hebert? I’m the royal princess of the Darkriver Pack, for crying
out loud!
Clenching my fists, I snatched up the phone from my vanity. My fingers trembled as I punched in Selena’s number with far more force than necessary. The moment the call connected, I skipped the pleasantries altogether and went straight to venting.
“What the hell is going on, Selena?” I practically screamed, my voice sharp and furious. “Didn’t you promise me that greedy Paul would take that pathetic woman back to the Silvermoon Pack? So why is there no movement at all? That worthless Omega is not only still here but Hebert is actually letting her stay on indefinitely as acting Luna! Honestly, Selena, do you even have a brain, or is it just filled with compost?”
The voice on the other end of the line was flustered, almost pleading. “Cecilia! Please, you’ve got to calm down! Paul really tried -Ashley was practically ready to leave with him!”
“Then why is she still strutting around Bloodmoon Pack territory like she owns the place?” I snarled, cutting her off mid- sentence. My nails dug so hard into my palm that blood seeped out in thin, sharp lines.
“It’s Hebert!” Selena’s voice wavered, tinged with something close to outright fear. “He showed up at the worst possible time
and put a stop to everything!”
That name stabbed through me like a shard of ice. Hebert–again! The very thought of him made my stomach churn with acidic resentment. Hebert–fall for that loser? No way. Logically, it didn’t make a shred of sense.
“Listen to me, Cecilia, please don’t lose it–just hear me out!” Selena’s desperation was evident. “I’ve got some news—you’ll like this. That little tramp is heading to Grizzly Pack soon. Something about helping them expand that ridiculous supernatural airport project they’re working on.”
My eyes narrowed sharply as my breath hitched. The Grizzly Pack?
Selena flattered her, saying, “Think about it, Cecilia! Hebert is the Alpha of the Bloodmoon Pack. He’s swamped with responsibilities; he can’t possibly tag along with that woman like some clingy shadow when she goes to the bear territory! The second he’s not by her side, that’s our golden opportunity!”
“And,” Selena’s tone turned venomous, “to prove my loyalty to you, I’m willing to head there ahead of time. I’ll make sure Ashley vanishes for good!”

It really was a flawless plan. Here in this well–guarded Bloodmoon Pack, getting rid of Ashley directly was nearly impossible. The biggest obstacle? Hebert’s unwavering protection of her.
But if that woman stepped out of Bloodmoon Pack’s territory and wandered into bear territory? She’d be like a scared little lamb straying far from its flock! Taking her out would be as easy as swatting a fly!
Even better, if something fatal happened to Ashley on bear territory, I could wash my hands of everything! All Hebert’s rage? It’d rain down on the bears instead!
And when the Bloodmoon Pack breaks ties with the bears, Hebert would have no choice but to turn to us, the Darkriver Pack, for
support. Not only could I wipe out that bothersome Omega, but I’d also forge a tighter alliance between our packs!
“Well done, Selena.” My voice was calm and commanding, laced with that queenly edge I always carried. “Do as we discussed. Head to the bear pack immediately and keep an eye on every single detail. I won’t tolerate even a hint of carelessness”
“As you wish, my noble princess.”
After cutting the call, a smug smile tugged at my lips.
Perfect. Let Ashley enjoy her brief moment of happiness while it lasts.
For now, I need to keep quiet. The last thing I need is Hebert’s frustration directed at me again.

Ashley’s POV
Acting Luna of the Bloodmoon Pack indefinitely?
Hearing that decision totally caught me off guard.
By now, I’d already arrived at Hebert’s study.
“What’s going on in that mind of yours, Hebert?”
He stood up from his chair with the calmest demeanor, each step bringing him closer to me. The sharp scent of cedarwood emanating from him enveloped me completely. His eyes, soft and warm, dropped slightly as his gaze caressed my face like
velvet.
“First, you’re more than capable of handling this role, and I trust you completely,” he said. “Secondly, I want you here, Ashley.
Even if you can never see me as your mate, I still need you within my reach.”
“You…” My lips parted as if to say something, but the words caught in my throat.
For a moment, I could only stay silent. “You think slapping the Luna title on me gives you full control?” I shot back, my voice sharp.
“Control? No, my dear Ashley.” Hebert’s gaze was steady, unwavering. “What I’m saying is, if you have no intention of entering a relationship, you and your little pup can stay in the Bloodmoon Pack with absolute safety and stability. Whatever rights you want, whatever resources you desire–you have every chance to claim them, to make them yours. You can go anywhere outside the Bloodmoon Pack, too, if that’s what you want.”
