Chapter 142
Hebert’s POV
When Ashley agreed to join the Bloodmoon Pack, I swear, my heart felt like it was about to burst right out of my chest!
I’ve spent years drenched in blood and battles, tearing through enemies like paper and standing triumphantly above the entire southern alliance. But this… this was something else entirely. I’ve never felt joy so raw, so electrifying, that it left me trembling
to my core.
She agreed. My Ashley—this scarred yet fiercely stubborn little she–wolf–was actually staying. Sure, she hasn’t said yes to becoming my Luna yet, but this? This was a massive step forward, no doubt about it.
Without wasting a second, I spun around and left the dining hall, heading straight for my study. The adrenaline thundered through me, and I knew I couldn’t just stand there basking in it–I had to act, now.
When I entered the study, Marcus was already there, ready and waiting to get down to business. “Marcus! Get all the legal paperwork and territorial documents ready right now,” I said without hesitation. “I want you to use the full power of the Bloodmoon Pack to completely sever whatever disgusting bond is left between Ashley and that loser Brian! And make sure all her ties with the Blackwood Pack are wiped clean too–no loose ends!”
Marcus, lounging on the couch, raised an eyebrow and smirked, that smug look of his as infuriating as ever.
“Wow, Hebert, looks like the starving wolf finally scored a meal, huh?” Marcus teased, his tone dripping with mockery. “Who’d have thought your little love chase–probably harder than rolling that boulder up the hill for Sisyphus–would actually make progress?”
I strolled over to my oversized leather chair, sat down, and let a faint smile tug at the corners of my mouth.
Progress? Oh, there’s been progress all right.
Last night, in the backseat of that Maybach, she didn’t push me away. When I touched her, her body responded so intensely, it was electric. And my confession? She didn’t outright reject me she just said she needed time, cautiously but not coldly.
That’s enough proof. She likes me. She feels the pull, just like I do.
Her face, her expression when she climaxed in my hands–it’s burned into my mind.
She was breathtaking.
God knows the amount of self–control it took not to give in to my desires right then and there. I wanted her so badly at that moment, but I held back.
On one hand, I didn’t want our first time to happen in the car. That just felt… tacky, you know? Lake, years later, the memory wouldn’t exactly scream romance.
On the other hand, I deliberately didn’t let Ashley feel completely satisfied. I wanted to leave her wanting more.
“Marcus, wipe that ridiculous look off your face,” I said, my tone calm as I cut off his teasing. My fingers drummed a steady rhythm on the sleek, expensive tabletop. “Since today is clearly worth celebrating, I’ve decided to make another important
announcement.”
I took a deep breath and slid an official–looking scroll of parchment to the center of the table. “Draft an alliance–wide notice. From today onward, Ashley’s position as acting Luna will be extended indefinitely.”
The inoment I made this decision, clearly satisfied with myself, the universe decided to intervene.
“Bang!” The doors to the study burst open with a sudden, deafening slam!
Cecilia stormed in, her striking red stilettos clicking loudly against the floor. As always, the Darkriver Pack princess carried herself with that haughty, borderline combative queen like attitude. “You’ve lost your mind, Hebert!” Cecilia’s sharp voice cut

through the room like a knife, shattering the brief moment of joy in the study. “You’re actually making an Omega–one without even a wolf spirit–serve as Bloodmoon Pack’s Luna indefinitely! This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard!”
“Mind your words, Cecilia,” I replied in a low, measured tone. “This isn’t just a title it’s an honor that Ashley wholly deserves. She might not have the brute strength you so–called nobles love to flaunt, but her unmatched talent and incredible intelligence have done wonders for our pack. Since she joined Bloodmoon, everything has been running sinoother, more organized. Even the downtrodden Omegas are holding their heads up high now.”
“So what if she’s got a bit of cleverness?” Cecilia shot back, her voice rising with indignation. She leaned over my desk, fingers digging into the edge as if to anchor her fury. “Her pathetic background doesn’t change! She’s not of a pure Alpha bloodline! According to the old laws of the pack, an Omega without noble lineage has no right to claim the position of Luna!” 1
Her words were so absurd they actually made me laugh—a cold, mocking laugh. “Tradition? Bloodline?” I strolled around the desk at an unhurried pace, step by step closing the gap between us, watching as Cecilia instinctively backed away in panic.” Cecilia, is your rusted brain stuck in some medieval swamp? Let me spell it out for you – strictly speaking, I was nothing more than a scrappy soldier clawing my way through the mud. The only reason I’m standing here today is because I ripped the last Alpha’s throat apart with my own hands. Not exactly thanks to some so–called ‘noble blood,‘ yeah?”
