Abandoned While Pregnant, Claimed by the Alpha novel Chapter 155

Chapter 158

Chapter 155

After returning to the Bloodgon Pack’s manor, I just wanted to tread back to my room and rest

But then Hebert called out to me. Now that you and Brian have nothing to do with each other, what’s your answer to that question from before?” he asked.

I stayed quiet. I knew Hebert cared about me-loved me, even. But diving into the safety he offered? That was the last thir could afford to do. What I needed wasn’t someone to protect me but the power to steer my own life.

“Hebert,” I said, my tone serious as I called his name.

He looked up, and those blue eyes of his, like polished sapphires, held a kind, steady grow.

I met his gaze directly, my voice calm but resolute. “Hebert, I’m so thankful for everything you’ve done for me. I truly mea that. But I’ve got to be straight with you-I can’t handle a stable relationship right now. The idea of tying my soul complet someone else again… it terrifies me. I also won’t accept being marked in any way.”

The room fell silent for a moment. The only sound was the faint crackle of firewood splitting in the hearth.

I swallowed nervously, but kept my tone firm as I laid out my plan. “I want to go to the Grizzly Pack. I want to take on those tough challenges on my own. I need to find out what I’m capable of, how far I can push myself. I refuse to hide under your w forever like some helpless little caged bird.”

Hebert’s flawlessly chiseled face remained calm, not showing a hint of anger. He just gazed at me intensely, those eyes lock

on mine.

“But,” I continued, trying to steady my voice, “I’m okay with the idea of an undefined relationship. I’m willing to consider y as someone I could seriously date in the future. The only question is… what do you think?”

“Of course I’m willing, Ashley,” he replied, his voice deep and rich, resonating like a cello right in my ear.

With long strides, he started closing the distance between us. The air around him thickened with raw intensity and this overwhelming masculine energy. I instinctively leaned back, but his broad frame had already cornered me completely.

His hands slammed down on the armrest of my sofa, effectively trapping me. His face, gorgeous and commanding, hovered dangerously close to mine-just a couple of inches away. His warm breath brushed over my lips, every exhale sending shivers

along my spine.

“But I’ve got a little request of my own,” he murmured, his voice gruff yet magnetic.

“What is it?” My breathing hitched, and my pulse raced like a drumline, sharp and unrelenting in my chest.

“I’m willing to wait until you’re ready to grow, and I fully support your decision to prove yourself with the Grizzly Pack,” Hebert’s eyes turned dangerously dark, like a black hole ready to consume everything in its path. “But during this time, you’re not allowed to date any other men. You can only date me. Only sleep with me. That’s my one non-negotiable.”

“Deal.” My voice came out raspy.
