Chapter 65
The morning sunlight filtered through the thin mist over the training field, creating shifting patches of light on the grass.
I was demonstrating to a group of Omega girls how to use their elbows in the most effective way to fight back. “Remember, always aim for the weakest spots-eyes, throat, groin.” Adjusting the stance of one of the younger girls, I added, “The only goal is to stay alive when danger strikes. Even hesitating for one second could cost you your life.”
Their eyes were locked onto me, full of determination and focus. There was a hunger for strength in their expressions, something I had never seen in the Omegas of Blackwood Pack. Here, they weren’t fragile, caged birds waiting for protection. They were learning how to bare their claws, to fight back. It might not be much, but if this training gave them even the slimmest chance to survive in a dire situation, it was worth every effort.
To better demonstrate a shoulder throw, I stepped back-only for my foot to land on a loose rock. A sharp twist shot through my ankle, and I instantly lost my balance, tipping backward.
A gasp escaped me as I reflexively shut my eyes, bracing myself for the sharp pain of hitting the hard ground.
The collision I expected never came. Instead, a pair of strong, steady arms caught me effortlessly, pulling me into a firm, warm embrace. A familiar scent, sharp and cool like a snowy pine forest, filled the air around me, calming every ounce of panic within me like the most potent tranquilizer.
I opened my eyes and found myself staring into a pair of dark, endless eyes. Hebert.
He straightened me up, keeping me steady, though his hand stayed firmly around my waist. Heat radiated from his palm, seeping through the thin fabric of my training clothes and searing into my skin. My cheeks flushed uncontrollably, and my heart thudded loudly against my chest-so loud I was sure I could hear it roaring.
The charged silence surrounding us broke in an instant, shattered by a voice cold enough to freeze everything in its wake, cutting through like a poisoned knife.
“Ashley.”
My blood turned to ice.
Brian.
He stood at the edge of the training field, flanked by at least a dozen Blackwood Pack warriors, their expressions grim. It didn’t feel like a visit-it felt like an invasion.
Hebert tensed beside me, his hand gripping my waist for just a second longer before finally letting go. He stepped forward, subtly positioning himself between me and Brian. His Alpha aura surged outward, colliding with Brian’s hostile presence in the air like an invisible battle of wills.”
Brian,” Hebert’s voice remained calm, but there was an edge of sheer dominance in his tone. “Showing

up with so many warriors here- what are you trying to prove? Trying to feel the chill of winter early on my territory?”
Brian didn’t even bother acknowledging him. His piercing gaze zeroed straight onto me, sharp like scalpels, as if he wanted to dissect me piece by piece. “I’m here to take back my advisor.”
The last thing I wanted was to stand here, in front of a group of Omega girls, and become the subject of some ridiculous spectacle involving two Alphas fighting over me. I stepped out from behind Hebert, steadying my voice as much as I could. “Let’s talk somewhere else.”
Brian’s lips twisted into a frosty smirk. When he turned, it was as though he owned the place. His arrogance practically made the air heavy.
I followed him to a secluded corner, the Blackwood Pack warriors forming an impenetrable wall, isolating us completely from everyone else.
“Feeling bold now, huh, Ashley?” The moment he opened his mouth, all that came out was mocking disdain. “Barely been gone a few days, and you’ve already jumped into the bed of Bloodmoon Pack’s Alpha?”
I could feel my blood boiling, rage erupting from deep within me, rushing straight to my head. “Shut your mouth, Brian.” My tone was steely as I stared him down. “If I had done that, wouldn’t the mark on your neck have told you the truth?”
