Lady Eugenia:
I was frantically holding onto my daughter, carrying her in my arms as I rushed through the woods to the woman.
The doctors had said they could not save her, that my daughter could pass away at any moment.
As soon as I slipped into the cabin, I watched the woman turn toward me and roll her eyes.
"It took you too long to come," she said, looking tired. "And now you've brought another one. I cannot take care of so many children."
Her comment made me hiss in frustration as I placed my daughter on the couch.
"Save her," I demanded, and that was when it finally registered with her.
"Oh, it happened?" she asked.
A smile appeared on her lips, as if she were pleased that her prophecy had come true once again.
"You told me that my daughter would die at a particular age, and she's dying right now. So help her," I said, my voice beginning to shake.
The woman stared at me, then looked down at my daughter.
As she crouched beside her, she seemed to realize what my daughter had been through.
"She's already been through a lot," she uttered, and my fists clenched.
I knew what she was trying to suggest.
She had warned me this would happen, and I had become a little careless.
"It's not my fault. I tried to keep her within the walls, but she—" I paused, clenching my fists. "She took her useless little brother with her, thinking he would save her, and that asshole didn't save her. The lover had men waiting for her. They all took advantage of my daughter. She's dying now–please save her."
My voice broke at the thought of those men.
Some of them were barely older than my daughter, yet there was such monstrosity in them.
"Well, I took care of them, but now my daughter is dying," I uttered and the woman nodded.
"Well, lucky for you, you listened to me before and took the precautions."
As she spoke, she walked over to a small room and opened the door.
Inside, a little girl sat chained to the wall.
She was probably a year younger than Baxter and much younger than my daughter.
She looked malnourished, but I could tell she would grow up to be very beautiful.
"Where is the other one?" I asked.
She rolled her eyes and shook her head.
"I lost the other one, okay? It was a long time ago, but it doesn't matter. We only needed one of that monster's children. And look, now your daughter will survive."
As she said that, I began to nod hopefully.
