Chapter 90 Territory Under Attack

A violent explosion shook the ground like an earthquake or a demolition blast. A powerful elemental shockwave slammed into Chloe head-on. It was as if she was standing in the middle of a modern factory explosion.
The surging Fire Element roared like a raging inferno, dangerously intense. For a split second, Chloe genuinely thought she was done for.
‘Thank god, Chloe thought. ‘Alden isn’t completely insane after all.’
The entire blast was blocked by a Protective Barrier of magic.
Alden took the blast from his enchanted weapon head-on, and walked away without a scratch.
He glanced at the other students, who looked as terrified as Chloe, and suddenly cracked a joke with a grin.
“So, if you’re going to learn enchantment, you’d better suit up and make sure your body can handle an explosion,” he said. ” Enchantment is way more dangerous than Magic Rune, curses, or forging.”
Chloe stared at the blasted-out hollow in the tree behind Alden, swallowing hard.
‘That really was terrifying, she thought.
A blood-red magic dagger materialized in Alden’s hand.
He glanced around and then with a casual flick of magic, let the dagger drift right in front of Chloe.
“Not many of you actually got it,” Alden said.
Chloe felt a bit flattered, but deep down, she couldn’t help but sigh at how immersive the Knowledge Fragment lesson was. Chloe gazed at the dagger, her heart pounding.
The notification popped up: [Blazing Fireblade Dagger: A highly enchanted magic weapon, personally crafted by a Master. [Quality: Epic
[Traits: Fire Element Burst, Laceration, High Heat, Elemental Damage.
[Special Enchantment Effect: When this dagger strikes, there’s a chance to inflict a ‘Crack’-the wound gets hit with a secondary fire burn, dealing significant elemental damage.
[Imbued with High Heat, it can easily slice through all kinds of metal, and delivers extra damage to plants and magical
creatures.
[Enchantment Rate: 97.6% (Perfect)]
Chloe didn’t hold back. She weighed the dagger in her hand, turning it back and forth, checking out every detail. It felt much heavier than she expected, and the sensation was like holding a piece of iron that radiated warmth.
But Chloe could tell this enchanted weapon was packed with way more Magical Element than her own Epic Ignis Crystal.
‘That’s strange, Chloe thought. ‘Is it the enchantment that’s making the Magic stronger, or did the earlier Epic materials just naturally hold more Magic?’
Chloe handed the dagger back to Alden.
Alden shot Chloe a quick look and then turned to the rest of the class.
He said, “When you’re learning Enchantment, make sure you know your materials inside out. Mixing elements or traits that don’t get along will blow up in your face.
“You need to start with the basics-learn your fundamental materials first.
“Here’s a chart of the basic enchantment traits for Magical Elements. Remember, you can’t mix base properties that clash. Check it out.”
Chloe suddenly found herself holding a thick, heavy sheet of paper.
It felt like handmade paper crafted from leaves and wood fibers, with a rough, matte texture and a greenish hue.
Chloe gave it a quick glance before hearing Alden say, “Remember, never try to enchant something that’s already been enchanted. The difficulty will skyrocket.
“And if a weapon’s Enchantment Rate is below 30%, don’t use it, or you’re asking for an explosion.
“Alright, that’s two hours. Class dismissed.”
Chloe hadn’t expected the class to end so quic.

grumble, “What kind of class is this? Even my dog would’ve fallen asleep This is beyond boring
For some reason, Chloe gave her in extra look.
When Chloe stepped out of the Knowledge Fragment lesson, she was still feeling dizzy and disoriented.
She passed through that kaleidoscopic world again, and suddenly, her senses came back to her.
When Chloe opened her eyes, she realized she was sprawled out on the ground, her head throbbing so badly it felt like her brain was about to burst
That kind of pain felt oddly familiar Chloe opened up her System Panel.
Sure enough, her mental energy was totally spent.
Chloe rubbed her temples, grabbed her Premium Dew like she always did, took a couple sips, and sat on the carpet forfa few minutes to catch her breath. Only then did she finally start to feel human again.
She rubbed her temples and glanced at the time-sure enough, exactly two hours had passed outside
During the tutorial, her body had basically been left lying around, totally defenseless, while her mind was off learning in some unknown place.
If someone had snuck in during that time, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Chloe suddenly felt a surge of wariness.
The notification said: [Congratulations, Player. You’ve completed the Basic Magic Enchantment Tutorial. Talent Points +3.
After she finished the Knowledge Fragment lesson, Chloe’s mind was buzzing with new info.
It covered the basic properties and traits of some Arcane Materials.
And Slime Ooze alone took up two whole pages.
Just then, the System chimed in: [To protect your brain, the knowledge has been automatically condensed. You can access it once your mental energy is restored.
[Would you like to extract it as a physical copy? Requires paper.]
‘Looks like A4 paper finally comes in handy, she realized.
Chloe hurried over to the paper-making machine, tossed in a few Wooden Logs, and quickly churned out some A4 paper.
She waited patiently for a few minutes, letting her mental energy recover and giving her mind a chance to rest.
Just then, she heard an urgent system warning. [Warning. Your territory is under attack.
[Current Shield Value: 280.
[Heads up: If your Shield Value drops to zero, your Health bar will be wide open.]
Chloe’s heart skipped a beat. She shot up from her chair so fast that her blood rushed to her head, and she nearly toppled
over.
She hurriedly opened her Territory Panel, and saw the mist on the screen had gotten even thicker.
The dense, pitch-black fog looked like it had morphed into an invisible giant hand, smashing down hard on her territory’s Shield Value.
The System said: [Shield Value -54. Current Shield Value: 226.]
Chloe rushed outside and saw that the attack on her shield was coming from beyond her territory. The tip of her Arcane Defense Tower crackled with lightning, but it just couldn’t find a target to strike.
Chloe realized a major flaw. The Arcane Defense Tower couldn’t reach anything outside her territory.
