Chapter 91

The moment her territory was destroyed, Chloe saw a new Health stat pop up on her Lord interface Current Territory Health: 500

[Warning: If Territory Health hits zero, the Boundary Marker will drop.

[Without Shield Value protection, the erosion rate of territory buildings has increased.]

Chloe didn’t have time to worry about anything else. She rushed beneath the Arcane Defense Tower, and in the dim, diffused light, she caught sight of a shadowy figure in the thick fog, slowly making its way toward the Boundary Marker

The figure stood about six and a half feet tall, with freakishly long arms and legs, but its midsection was so thin it barely looked human.

Once the Arcane Defense Tower gathered wind elements, it unleashed a fierce gust that slammed into the figure shroude mist, only to scatter moments later.

The figure’s Health appeared: [Greedy Magic Chaser

[Current Health: 1870]

Chloe frowned and unleashed a barrage of attacks at the shadowy figure.

But she quickly realized that her magic barely scratched the Greedy Magic Chaser.

‘Is it useless?’ Chloe wondered.

She pulled a Rare composite bow she got in a trade from her inventory, readied an arrow, and aimed at the shadowy figure

The arrow shot out and went straight through the shadowy figure.

It hit harder than the Arcane Defense Tower’s attack.

Chloe barely had time to feel relieved before the shadowy figure reached the Arcane Defense Tower. As its hand touched th tower, the tower reacted like it had been deeply offended, unleashing a furious storm of wind elements that thundered

nonstop.

Chloe’s heart skipped a beat as she watched the emerald Legendary Kingfisher Crystal Core above the Arcane Defense Tower, being pulled away by some unseen force, slowly but steadily moving toward the Greedy Magic Chaser.

‘No, Chloe cried out internally. ‘My most precious Arcane Defense Tower!’

In that instant, Chloe’s nerves frayed with desperation. Her hand shook as she gripped the arrow. The arrows did damage, but they were too slow-way too slow, She wondered if there was anything else she could do.

‘Afraid of knowledge. The thought suddenly flashed through Chloe’s mind.

Desperate times called for desperate measures.

She strapped the Crystal of Knowledge onto the arrow and then conjured up the Magical Element-Hydropower Automation Engineering-into a small glowing orb, just like in Alden’s enchantment lessons, and attached it to the arrow

too.

Not sure if it would work, Chloe steadied herself, drew the bow, took aim, and fired.

The arrow, with the Crystal of Knowledge attached, pierced right through the mist creature’s head.

An unidentifiable, unfathomable screech filled the air.

As soon as Chloe heard it, her mind was assaulted by crashing waves of agony, her head throbbing with unbearable p

She forced her eyes open, just in time to see the shadowy figure as if it was being absorbed right into the Crystal of Knowledge.

The Legendary Kingfisher Crystal Core it had been dragging dropped to the ground with a dull plop.

The notification popped up: [Arcane Defense Tower Damage Level: 98%.

[Current Territory Health: 467.]

Chloe rushed over to pick up the Legendary Kingfisher Crystal Core. The moment it hit the ground, the Arcane Defer Tower instantly dimmed.

And right where the Legendary Kingfisher Crystal Core landed, a small green tornado spun up, whipped into existenc the Legendary magical material, tossing the soil everywhere and leaving a total mess behind.

Chloe hurriedly stashed the Legendary material into her Arcane Vault.

She checked her territory and found it in complete disarray.

After the territory shield shattered, the fog Erosion Points on all the buildings skyrocketed.

The Slime Cabin, the Pleasure Arcane Dew Collector, the Arcane Soil Purifier, and even the Arcane Workbench all took some damage, losing Durability.

And the Territory Health Chloe cared about most was also taking a hit, with the damage to the buildings translating into proportional loss.

Now, Territory Health was down to just 385.

After all this time in the game, Chloe felt a real threat to her survival for the very first time.

What really sent her into a panic, though, was that the erosion level just kept rising.

The Shield Value that the Greedy Magic Chaser had broken didn’t come back on its own after Chloe defeated the monster Instead, there was just a new Repair button.

Once the territory’s Shield Value and Health took damage, they wouldn’t recover on their own.

Good thing it could be fixed. Chloe let out a sigh of relief and wasted no time hitting the Repair Shield button.

[Current Territory Level: LVI. Do you want to spend 600 basic materials (any type) to restore Shield Value?]

‘Six hundred basic materials?’ Chloe winced internally.

But she didn’t have time to feel the sting.

If there was a freebie to be had, Chloe would never pass it up. She wondered if maybe upgrading the shield would also refill her Health bar.

She spotted the Upgrade button nearby and clicked it.

The notification read: [Shield Value not full. Cannot upgrade.]

‘Of course, no shortcuts, Chloe grumbled to herself.

Chapter 91

More than half the materials Chloe had just collected were wiped out in no time.

She burned through 300 Wooden Logs and 300 Iron Ore just to get the shield back up.

Then she turned her attention to the other buildings in her territory, especially the Arcane Defense Tower.

The notification read: [Do you want to spend 600 Premium materials (any type) and 20 Rare Arcane Materials to rep Durability of all buildings in your territory and recast the Arcane Defense Tower?

[During the newbie protection period, the materials required for rebuilding have been significantly reduced]

Chloe was so pained she couldn’t even speak.

‘How can it cost this much?’ she thought.

But of course, she clicked confirm anyway.

Fire Cedar counted as one of the Rare Arcane Materials.

Chloe couldn’t help but regret that her Strength was so low. She didn’t have the muscle to chop wood in the Forbidden

Forest.

The Rare wood she could get from the outskirts was pretty impressive.

Too bad her Strength was so low that she’d dumped all her stat points into Magic.

Chloe checked her territory, and only after making sure everything was safe did she finally let herself relax.

Still, Chloe didn’t walk away from this attack empty-handed.

She made her way to the base of the Arcane Defense Tower, where her Crystal of Knowledge lay on the ground.
