CHAPTER HUNDRED-SIXTEEN-1
VALERIE
Everyone had heard them arguing before they came down last night. And Maxine who knew more about Tricia was the best person to meet to talk about this.
Maxine admitted that Tricia had indeed harbored a crush on Dominic for so long. Even when she was young then, she could see it. How she would always try to be a pick me when it comes to Dominic, how she would fight girls in her classes if they ever spoke about Dominic in a flirty way. How some girls would come to give her their numbers to pass it to Dominic, and she would pick a fight with the girl and her friends.
How she would always make sure that she was always Dominic’s choice, and no one else.
When Dominic was in the picture, no guy could approach Tricia, because she was a pick me. She would go ahead and tell people that Dominic was her boyfriend, and Dominic never knew about any of this.
Never saw her as anything more than a friend.
She had misread his kindness as affection.
And now, even when he had a girlfriend, she couldn’t resist the chance to ruin his relationship.
If Maxine wasn’t so sweet, and such a great cook, she would have been a very good detective.
This woman was a genius.
We had agreed on a plan.
I wasn’t going to stand here and watch one stupid vampire woman ruin my best friend’s relationship and chance at happiness.
We had to teach her a lesson.
It’s time she learned her place, and who was really in charge.
Thirty minutes later, and Giovanni and Marcus had left for the city.
Now it was just Maxine, Tricia and I in the house.
Tricia walked into the kitchen to drop her dirty plates, and Maxine and I decided to follow her.
“Hey Tricia.” Maxine started, folding her arms.

Tricia turned to look at us, confusion clearly written on her face. “Is everything okay?”

“No, Tricia. Nothing is okay, and I have a feeling you know exactly what I’m talking about. Why are
you back here?”
“Because this is also my home?”
“No. You were never welcomed here, Tricia. Even when we were young, you hated my guts as Dominic’s sister. You wanted to be the only girl in his life, you wanted to be the one he would love. So, when he had a girlfriend, you wanted to be that girlfriend. It’s always been about you. Did you think I forgot when you lied to my brother that I kissed a boy when I only told you I liked him? Huh, did you think I forgot how you had been spreading nasty rumors about me at school, and how you’ve tried to sabotage every friendship I’ve ever had? Do you know why we had to transfer schools, and why Dominic had to leave early? Because of you. And now, you’re here, trying to destroy his relationship. How does that make you feel, Tricia? Being a mean girl as a teenager, and still a mean girl at thirty?”
“I don’t understand what you’re talking about. I’m leaving.”
