CHAPTER HUNDRED-SEVENTEEN-2
“Hailey?”
I looked up to see Dominic, and the first thing that caught my attention was his eyes. They were no
longer filled with anger, but concern.
“Hey.” I croaked, realizing we had stopped in front of a building. I didn’t realize the car had come to
a stop, and Dominic was in front of me, waiting for me to step out.
He didn’t say anything, but the concern was still evident on his face.
I stepped out of the car, and looked around.
There were cars everywhere, and a lot of people. We were definitely in the city, and I couldn’t
contain my excitement.
We were in front of my favorite designer clothing store where I would try out custom made clothes, and pick out designs for a dress that will be tailor made just for me and Liam.
“Surprise.” He whispered in my ear, and I squealed in delight.
Despite being angry with me, he was thoughtful enough to bring me here.
“I’m sorry, Dominic.” I said, turning to him. “For being an idiot. And I’m sorry for accusing you. I should have trusted you. And I’m sorry for making things difficult between us. I know you were expecting the same from me, but I let you down. I’m sorry.”
1 felt his hands cup my cheeks, and my gaze fell on him. “Hailey, it’s okay. I’m sorry too. For making you feel threatened and not telling you the whole truth. It wasn’t right, and I’m sorry. You have nothing to be sorry about. You’re not an idiot. I guess I was angry for thinking all my efforts to get you to trust me were working, only for you to prove me wrong. But I’m coming to understand that years worth of pain and betrayal cannot just be wiped off and forgotten in just a few months. You have your valid reasons, and I’m not going to force you. If you’re not ready to trust me yet, it’s okay. I’ll wait for you, no matter how long it takes.”
“Dominic, stop. You’ve done so much to earn my trust. You have proven your loyalty, and the fact that you are worthy of my trust. I wasn’t supposed to say that. Don’t feel sorry for me. I should work on trying to build her relationship stronger and not to break it. I know how hard you’re trying, and I’m not going to be an ungrateful person. I am blessed, and lucky, and I should show you that.”
“And the trust will come. When we least expect it. Because it’s not always something you can control, especially when the past haunts us. So, please. Let’s not apologize, and let’s not beat ourselves up for the past. Let’s live for the future, and look forward. The past has no power over

“How do you always know what to say, and what I need to hear?” I asked him.

“Because, I can read you like a book, baby. And I’ll always know what to say. You’re my other half. My soulmate.”
He kissed my forehead, and then pulled me into a tight embrace.
I missed him.
Missed his warmth and his hugs.
He held me tight, and it was as if all the pain and hurt was melting away.
“I missed you.” He said.
“Me too.”
He pulled back, and cupped my cheeks again, and smiled.
“I can’t wait to make you my wife. To make a family and a home with you. I love you, Hailey. I will never do anything to hurt you. Never.”
“I love you too, Dominic. And I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. Thank you for everything. For loving me, and making me the happiest woman alive.”
We kissed, and for the first time, the kiss felt different. It was full of promise and hope.
We were going to be okay.
We were going to fix us, and build our relationship stronger. It’s not going to be easy, but we’re going to get through this.
The future was ours, and I wasn’t about to let anything or anyone take that away from me.
I was Dominic’s and he was mine.
