After Rejection Divorced Luna Becomes A Famous Doctor (Hailey and Dominic) novel Chapter 172

CHAPTER HUNDRED FORTYTWO 2

CHAPTER HUNDRED-FORTYTWO-2

I pulled away, my breath coming in ragged gasps, my forehead resting against hers.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered, my voice hoarse. “I’m so sorry.”

“Don’t be,” she said, her voice soft and steady. “I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”

I looked at her, her eyes filled with a love and understanding that I didn’t deserve. She pulled me back to her and our lips met again. This kiss was different, slower, deeper. It was a promise, a vow to face this together, no matter what.

I picked her up again, not breaking the kiss as I carried her to the adjoining bathroom. I needed to wash the night away, to wash the blood and the death from my skin. I turned on the shower, the hot water steaming up the room, creating a cocoon of privacy, a temporary escape from the

world.

We stepped into the shower, the hot water cascading over us, washing away the grime, the fear, the lingering scent of death. I held her close, my head buried in her hair, her scent a familiar

comfort in the chaos.

I slowly undressed her, my fingers tracing the contours of her body, memorizing every curve, every line. I wanted to remember this moment, this feeling of her in my arms, this small bubble of peace

in the middle of the storm.

She undressed me too, her touch gentle and sure, her eyes never leaving mine. We stood there for a moment, naked and vulnerable, the water streaming over us, the world outside this room fading

away.

I backed her against the tiled wall, my body pressing against hers, the heat of her skin a burn to the cool tile. I kissed her again, my hands exploring her body, my touch a mixture of desperation and reverence. She responded in kind, her hands roaming my back, her nails digging into my skin, a silent encouragement to take what I needed.

I entered her slowly, a gasp escaping her lips. My hands grabbing her ass lifting her up as she wrapped her legs around my waist. I started to move, my rhythm a frantic, primal beat, a desperate attempt to feel something other than the rage. She met me thrust for thrust, her body moving with mine, a perfect, harmonious dance of need and desire. We were two halves of a whole, two souls finding solace in each other’s arms.

Her warm body gave me the comfort I needed but that comfort wasn’t strong enough to get rid of

the rage.

But then I looked at her, really looked at her, and I saw her. I saw Hailey, the woman I loved, the

mother of my child, my mate. And the rage began to recede, replaced by a wave of tenderness so

intense it almost brought me to my knees.

I saw the future. I saw a life with her, a life free from the chaos and the violence. A life where we

could grow old together, watch our son grow up, and be happy. A life that was now in jeopardy.

I slowed my pace, my movements becoming more deliberate, more intentional. I wanted to savor this moment, to etch it into my memory, to carry it with me through the dark days ahead.

My lips met hers in a slow, tender kiss, a silent promise to protect her, to protect our family, no matter the cost. She responded with a soft sigh, her body relaxing against mine, her trust in me a

fragile, precious thing.

We stayed like that for a long time, our bodies moving in a slow, sensual rhythm, the water a gentle caress against our skin. It was more than just sex; it was a communion, a merging of souls, a reaffirmation of our love and our commitment to each other.

When it was over, we stood there for a moment, our foreheads pressed together, our breath mingling in the steamy air.

“I love you,” I whispered, my voice raw with emotion.

“I love you too,” she replied, her voice a soft echo of mine.

We finished our shower in silence, the comfortable kind of silence that comes from a deep and abiding love. We dried each other off.

I watched her as she got dressed, her movements fluid and graceful. She was so beautiful, so strong. She was my rock, my anchor in the storm. I didn’t deserve this woman, yet I was blessed enough to have her. There wasn’t any good I’ve done to deserve a woman like her, and it terrified me that I could lose her.

A knock on the bathroom door startled us both. “Dominic,” Giovanni’s voice was low and urgent. “The Council’s envoy is here. They’re waiting for you in the main hall.”

The bubble of peace we had created had burst. The real world, with all its dangers and uncertainties, was waiting just outside the door.

I let out a long, shaky breath, the rage that had been momentarily soothed now coiling in my gut again, cold and sharp. I looked at Hailey, my eyes communicating everything I couldn’t say. Be careful. I love you. Forgive me for what I must become.

She gave me a small, reassuring nod, her hand squeezing mine. “We’ll face them together.”

I shook my head. “No. This is pack business. You and Liam… stay up here. Lock the door. Don’t open it for anyone but me.”

“Please, Hailey.” My voice was a low growl, the Alpha command bleeding through despite my best

efforts to keep it at bay. I couldn’t risk her. Not now. Not with the vultures circling.

She searched my face, and whatever she saw there must have convinced her. She gave a short,

sharp nod. “Okay. But you come back to me. You hear me?”
