Jasper kept a calm face, walked to the bathroom and rinsed away all the blood.

Only then did he spot the deep bite wound on his lip.

Tatiana turned to look at him, ready to speak, but caught sight of his injured lip. She held it in for a second before bursting into laughter.

His lip was coated with medical ointment and badly swollen, looking utterly ridiculous.

Jasper smiled back at the sight of her grinning face, but the smile tugged at his wound and made him suck in a sharp breath.

Tatiana laughed even harder.

She’d barely calm down when one glance at his swollen lip made her snort with laughter again.

“Hahaha…”

Jasper said patiently, “Does this make you feel better now?”

“Mm, not really.”

“I’ll do anything you ask, no exceptions, as long as your anger fades.”

After all, nothing hurt worse than losing her.

“We’ll talk about that later. Right now, tell me everything you’ve been hiding, every single detail.”

“Okay.”

Outside, the old man trimmed his flowers and plants, yet his eyes kept drifting toward the closed study door.

He was far too distracted. When he glanced down, he found his expensive potted plant completely shorn bare, nothing left but bare stalks.

He tossed down the pruning shears and muttered to himself, “This foolish boy better explain himself well and make peace with Tatiana. Where else would I find such a perfect granddaughter–in–law?”

He rambled on, his words full of blame.
