Against Cruelty, She Grew Strong (by Anastasia Glover) novel Chapter 638

Tatiana’s pentup frustration faded quite a bit.

She tore out a few paper tissues and tossed them over to him.

Blood was dripping down his chin.

He didn’t pick them up, only stared at her with soft fondness in his eyes.

Are you not mad anymore?

I’ll barely listen to your explanation. Go get your lip treated, the doctor hasn’t left yet.

Alright.”

He knew Tatiana had done that to him on purpose.

So he obeyed and headed outside to call back the doctor who was about to leave.

When he stepped out with blood all over his mouth, he shocked both the old man and the doctor.

What happened to your lip

Jasper kept a calm face, walked to the bathroom and rinsed away all the blood.

Only then did he spot the deep bite wound on his lip.

Fresh blood kept seeping out nonstop.

He let out a helpless bitter smile, walked back out, and spoke steadily under the doctor’s weird stare, Thank you.

Of course. It’s what I do.

The doctor quickly applied medicine to his injury.

Once the treatment was done, the doctor left with a strange look on his face.

The old man also looked like he had a lot to say but held back.

Having lived such a long life, he knew exactly how that wound had been made.

The old man shot him a helpless glance, his tone even carrying a hint of amusement, You deserved it! What you did was unforgivable! Tatiana went easy on you! Make it up to her

properly!

Jasper let out a long heavy sigh, I will.

With the unsightly wound on his lip, he walked back into the room.

Tatiana turned to look at him, ready to speak, but caught sight of his injured lip. She held it in for a second before bursting into laughter.

His lip was coated with medical ointment and badly swollen, looking utterly ridiculous.

Jasper smiled back at the sight of her grinning face, but the smile tugged at his wound and made him suck in a sharp breath.

Tatiana laughed even harder.

She’d barely calm down when one glance at his swollen lip made her snort with laughter again.

Hahaha

Jasper said patiently, Does this make you feel better now?

Mm, not really.

I’ll do anything you ask, no exceptions, as long as your anger fades.

After all, nothing hurt worse than losing her.

We’ll talk about that later. Right now, tell me everything you’ve been hiding, every single detail.

Okay.

Outside, the old man trimmed his flowers and plants, yet his eyes kept drifting toward the closed study door.

He was far too distracted. When he glanced down, he found his expensive potted plant completely shorn bare, nothing left but bare stalks.

He tossed down the pruning shears and muttered to himself, This foolish boy better explain himself well and make peace with Tatiana. Where else would I find such a perfect granddaughterinlaw?

He rambled on, his words full of blame.

But as he kept talking, he thought of all the suffering Jasper had endured lately, bearing all his pain alone while plotting his revenge in silence

All of this was the fault of the Langstrom family!

He should never have let things go that far back then

Sigh.

The old man heaved a deep, weary breath.

They waited for an extremely long time.

By the time the study door opened again, dusk had fallen.

The old man had told the maid to finish dinner hours ago, waiting for them to come out and eat. He’d even specially asked her to cook a pot of soup.

Jasper’s damaged lip would leave him stuck eating soft food for days.

He fully deserved it.

When Tatiana stepped out, she wasn’t exactly cheerful, but her mood wasn’t terrible either.

The old man’s worried heart finally settled after a whole day of anxiety.

Come sit quickly, you two must be starving. Let’s eat!

Jasper had thought that telling Tatiana all his plans and the hidden truth from years ago would fix everything.

But he’d underestimated Tatiana’s resolve, or overestimated how much sway he held over her.

No matter what, Tatiana had no intention of backing down.

Jasper saw the wall of files inside the study, covered with photos and information about Liam.

It was impossible to say he didn’t mind.

He was burning with jealousy!

Especially knowing the woman he loved cared so deeply for another man, he wanted to crush Liam to dust.

Tatiana shot him a sideways glance, I’ve sacrificed so much for this. You expect me to stop? That’s out of the question.

The trap was already set, and the target had taken the bait. She couldn’t turn back now.

It’s far too dangerous!

As long as the Langstrom family exists, they are the greatest danger of all.

I’ll handle them myself.

You have your methods, and I have mine.
