Chapter 646 Fireworks That Left Her Cold
Liam laughed and chided lightly, “Hey. Don’t be ridiculous. Her name’s Tatiana, just a friend of mine.”
His friend winked suggestively, “Sure, just a close friend, we all get it!”
Liam didn’t bother correcting him, or maybe he simply didn’t want to.
Everyone in their circle had known each other for a decade; they knew all of one another’s secrets and shared an unbreakable bond.
The mood quickly turned lively and relaxed.
Liam worried Tatiana might feel out of place. Last time he’d brought Sherry to a gathering, she’d thrown a public tantrum and ruined the whole night.
He’d never brought her out with them again after that.
He feared Tatiana might act the same way.
But Tatiana didn’t need him hovering beside her at all. She easily struck up conversations with the women brought by his friends.
They talked about the same trivial things, and she knew exactly how to cater to their interests.
After all, if she could win over the cold, unapproachable Madam Ambrosia and wrap the hard-to-read Liam around her finger, handling a few socialites and celebrities was nothing to her.
Before long, she fit right in with the group of girls, even stepping forward to wash vegetables and skewer meat, her movements smooth and practiced.
Liam watched her, a soft smile tugging at his lips without him noticing.
A friend nudged his elbow and lowered his voice, “You’re really falling for her, aren’t you?”
Liam didn’t deny it, only hummed in reply.
“She’s far from ordinary. Do you think you can handle her?”
Clearly, this man knew Tatiana’s real identity.
Liam smiled faintly, “Ordinary people never catch my eye.”
“Hmph, you’ve always had high standards. But aren’t you scared she’ll affect your promotion? You’re up for a big promotion soon. At such a critical time, your achievements almost guarantee your inclusion. There’s no need to find a suitable, trustworthy partner by taking this risk.”
“Evan Voss, I’m the one chasing her.”
That single sentence left Evan completely stunned.
“Are you serious?”
“I am.”
Evan looked at him like he’d discovered something brand new.
For all Liam’s gentle exterior, he was incredibly picky when it came to women. For years, he’d kept everyone at arm’s length. Aside from his first love, Sherry, he’d never cared for anyone. Even his marriage to Sherry had mostly been an act of rebellion against his family.
Now he was actively pursuing another woman?
Evan suddenly asked, “Haven’t you won her over yet?”
Liam shot him a sharp glance. “Don’t say things I don’t want to hear.”
Evan caught the hint and burst out laughing. “Liam, of all people, I never thought you’d end up like this. You’re finally tasting the pain of love!”
“Pain?”
He didn’t feel any pain at all.
This addictive, unfulfilling longing was far more thrilling.
He’d never been this obsessed with anyone before.
“Want a skewer?”
Tatiana turned her head to see him holding a plate of freshly grilled meat, and she thanked him. “Yes, thank you.”
