Even in Darkness, She Chose to Rise
Chapter 647 Unaccepted Confession And A Hidden Witness
Still, she put on a look of genuine delight on the surface.
Liam spoke softly, “Did you like it?”
“Yeah, it’s beautiful.”
She stared up at the fireworks, avoiding his gaze.
Liam suddenly pulled out a gift box, “Open it.”
She took it and lifted the lid. Inside lay a glittering diamond necklace set with a large emerald pendant.
It looked extremely expensive.
“Tatiana, will you be with me?”
When the two of them came back down, they were met with a roomful of knowing, suggestive looks.
Everyone had that unspoken understanding written all over their faces.
Only Liam’s expression was unreadable.
Evan’s curiosity got the better of him. He knew Liam had set off the fireworks to confess, and he was dying to know if it had worked.
Judging by Liam’s gloomy face, things hadn’t gone well.
Evan wandered over and raised an eyebrow, “Did she say yes?”
“Mind your own business.”
“So that’s a no. Seriously? Even after all this, she still turned you down? Your charm’s slipping, huh?”
“Shut up.”
Evan had guessed correctly—Tatiana had rejected him.
Her excuse was that they could never have a future together; it was better just to enjoy the moment.
He pressed her for a proper reason, and Tatiana only gave him one line, “I have a child. Your family will never accept me.”
So she’d been worried about that all along.
To ease her worries, he decided to bring her to the family dinner that weekend.
Tatiana agreed.
He was confident he could convince his father.
That was why he refused to admit his confession had failed.
Once the fireworks faded, all the wealthy heirs headed home.
None of them wanted to stay overnight camping.
Why sleep in a tent swatting mosquitoes when they had luxury mansions waiting for them?
Liam drove Tatiana back to her place.
Before she got out of the car, Liam caught hold of her wrist, “Tatiana, don’t forget your promise.”
Tatiana smiled faintly. “We both carry pasts. Don’t treat this like a game, Liam. I don’t play around with relationships—I either commit fully or walk away.”
Her words struck straight to Liam’s heart.
He felt exactly the same way.
“Very well. You’ll see what our future holds. I’ll pick you up Sunday.”
“See you Sunday.”
“Stop right there! Don’t run!”
“Cut her off!”
“Surround her!”
A panicked woman was cornered in a dead-end alley with nowhere left to flee.
A gang of small-time thugs blocked every exit around her.
“I don’t have any money! There’s no point robbing me!”
“Ma’am, we’re not here to steal anything. Just stop running.”
“If you’re not robbers, what do you want with me?”
“Someone’s looking for you.”
