Even in Darkness, She Chose to Rise
Chapter 652 Past And Future
Sherry was completely speechless,
“How could you talk like that?”
“What do you want me to say then? You want me to leave him? But even if I did, would that really make you two get back together?”
Sherry was rendered speechless.
Still, she didn’t lose sight of her purpose for showing up, and insisted, “Bottom line, you two cannot be together!”
“Then maybe you should talk some sense into him.”
“He won’t listen to me!”
“Then he definitely won’t listen to me either.”
Right then, Tatiana was as slippery as an eel–there was simply no handle to grab onto.
Sherry was completely out of options, but she refused to give up, clenching her jaw, “What’s between him and me isn’t simple at all–you can’t wedge yourself in!”
I’d love that–please, go right ahead and take him back!
She was about to retort, but out of the corner of her eye, she caught a shadow moving past the doorway. The words that slipped out instead were, “This was his call. I’m respecting it, but that doesn’t mean I’m stepping aside, Miss Parker. Sorry.
“You! You have no idea how much memory he and I share! How could you ever match that?”
“You’re his past. And me? I’m his future.”
She nearly gagged on those words.
But her face stayed perfectly composed.
Sherry was so enraged by that remark that she burst into tears, her eyes turning red, and she spun around and ran off.
The moment she got outside, she spotted the person standing there. She froze. “Liam…”
It was Liam standing outside.
He had no idea how long he’d been there or how much he’d overheard. His expression was unreadable.
Sherry felt a twinge of guilt for no clear reason, but then a wave of hurt swept over her, “Liam, why haven’t you replied to my texts?”
“I made myself clear–stop bothering me. Did you forget?”
“But I’ve already explained everything and showed you the proof. I never betrayed you! Can’t we fix this? I don’t want that money anymore–I’ll behave from now on, alright?”
Sherry reached out, tugging at his sleeve, pleading, “Liam, please, won’t you?”
Liam yanked his arm away roughly, his irritation plain to see, “Sherry, you know my limits. If you keep this up, you’ll cross the line.”
Sherry’s face went white. Seeing his impatience, she stumbled back two steps, tears streaming freely, “Liam, are you really that cold–hearted?”
“Let’s part on good terms..”
With that, he started walking forward, heading toward Tatiana.
That line-“I’m his future“-hit him like a punch to the chest.
All he wanted right now was to pull her close.
To make her a promise.
To lose himself in her.
But just as they passed each other, Sherry murmured something that made Liam stop dead in his tracks, a look of astonishment on his face.
