Tammy said it with absolute seriousness.

Manna faltered for a moment-almost softened. But the scars on her body reminded her. memory burned. She hardened her heart again.

She smoothed her hair and headed for the study.

She shot the lackey a warning look as he eyed the room, “Don’t do anything stupid. Or I’ll you up.

He gave a nervous grin, “Manna, wouldn’t dream of it.”

“Good. Guard the door. Nobody goes in. And no matter what you hear, don’t enter. If she escapes, you’re dead.

“Manna, she’s tied up like that-what could she possibly do?”

“Don’t underestimate her.”

The lackey wasn’t worried, but he knew better than to talk back.

Everyone knew the boss favored Manna above all.

Manna went into the study.

Inside, a shirtless man sat puffing on a cigar, smoke curling around him.

He looked up when she entered, “Feel better?”

“Not yet. It’s not that easy.”

He laughed, gold teeth glinting, “Take your time then. Just don’t kill her-she’s useful to Norman.”

She hummed in agreement, ignoring the woman kneeling under the desk, “What’s your plan?”

“The Lund family-I’ve bought out all of John’s shares. Still need a few more from Lucas. Chop off one of that woman’s fingers and send it to him. Scare him.”
