Alice, The White Werewolf novel Chapter 23

I slowly turned my body back. With unblinking eyes and high curiosity, I again stepped closer to the door.

"Mate?" I said this with a trembling mouth and a sharp gaze, watching who was not in the house through the black glass window.

I grabbed the door handle and was about to open it. But as it turned out, the door was locked. I was again enveloped in fear and curiosity.

I moved the door and then slammed it.

"Mate? Are you in there? What are you doing?" I shouted.

"Alice...! "Help me!" says someone from inside with a moaning tone like pain.

"Mate? Is that you? What are you doing there?" My screams are getting louder.

I knocked on the door a few times and also pushed the door with my body, but I couldn't open it.

"Shit! "Why is the door so strong?"

Then I looked for something around me that I could use to open that door. After searching and searching nervously, I finally saw a block of wood lying behind a pile of snow.

I immediately took the block and pushed as hard as I could until I finally managed to open the door.

"Braaakkk!"

I managed to open the door even though my body drifted into the impulse to make me fall into a house that had no lighting at all.

"Mate?" I kept shouting Mate's name while turning my face to the right and left and even turning my body.

At the time, I didn't see anyone in the house. There was only darkness because there were no lights in the house.

I walked deeper into the house. My gaze stopped on one of the rooms with the door open.

"Like there's someone inside? Is that sound coming from here?"

I walked over to that room.

"Alice...!" suddenly I heard someone calling my name.

"Mate? "Is that you?"

Then I turned on the flashlight from my cell phone after I took it out of my small bag.

Not long after, I pointed the flashlight at all corners of the room. And at a glance, I saw someone sitting under the floor, as if he were looking at me. I turned my attention back to that person.

"Mate? It is you!" I said this nervously as I walked quickly towards Mate.

"Who told you to come here?"

Suddenly, a voice came from nowhere. Yes, the sound managed to surprise me.

"Who's there?" I said this while pointing the flashlight so many times toward all corners of the room. However, I didn't see anyone.

All I could see was a man with his hands tied and his arms tied.

"Mate? Is there anyone else here besides you?" I asked my mate.

My husband looked at me with a look of fear.

"Why did Mate suddenly become like this?" Didn't he have the strength of a wolf that could fight anyone who wanted to threaten him?

I ignored the voice and continued walking toward my friend. Perched finally, I managed to approach Mate and wipe the sweat that soaked his face.

This is the first time I've seen a man's face covered in sweat. Yes, in this city, it snows almost every day, and it rains no less often along urban roads.

When I was about to let go of the rope that was coiled around Mate's wrists and feet, suddenly my body was pushed to the side so that I fell. More precisely, my body crashed against the wall of the room.

"Aaaa...!" I cried out in pain.

"How dare you come here and behave as if you were a hero!" says that voice that I do not yet know where it is.

"Who are you?" I shouted as I searched for someone.

"Alice! "Quickly call 911 that there is attempted murder!" Order Mate.

"What? Attempted murder?" I speak with my voice, and my mouth trembles.

I heard footsteps as if they were walking toward me. Instantly, my body fell silent, and my eyes opened wider and wider.

I see there's a black shadow; the longer it looks, the bigger it gets.

"Alice! Watch out...! "He's coming for you!" shouted Mate.

My heart was beating faster, and my breathing began to be irregular.

What Mate said turned out to be true. There was a human-like figure with a tall and large posture approaching me.

"Your name is Alice! "I finally met you," someone said.

"You heard it yourself, right? He had intentionally killed my grandmother. Which grandson remains calm if there is a human figure like him?"

"Wait. Human? Doesn't Mate have wolf powers? Why did he lose to Axelle? Why didn't he fight back the way he helped me back then?" I murmured in my heart.

"Mate? Why would you do that?" I asked, shouting.

"I'm sorry, Alice!" replied Mate in a depressed voice.

"But, why? "What exactly happened?"

"Because I want to be with you," replied Mate.

"What?"

Again, I was taken aback by my friend's statement.

"What to do, Mate? What does your desire to be with me have to do with you bumping that grandma to death? And also, why don't you fight Axelle? Don't you have more power than me?"

"Wait! What are you talking about? Whose power and what power?" asked Axelle, who suddenly interrupted my conversation with Mate.

"Aren't you ordinary people?" he added.

I was silent as I looked at Mate. Lately, I've noticed something unusual about him. He's a wolf. And also, why didn't he fight back? I don't get it at all.

I tried to calm myself down and think about how Mate could get out of this house.

"Hmm, Axelle? We knew each other before, didn't we? I've been living in front of your grandmother's house for quite some time since I decided to move to this town. We've never been involved in anything like that before. So, can I just ask for help once?" my pint.

Axelle's face instantly changed. He looked at me with an expression of wanting to hear the continuation of my speech sooner.

I'm sure Axelle is a good kid. Even though I'm an overseas child who lives here and doesn't know much about Axelle's personal life, I believe that if Axelle wants to get revenge on the people who used to mock him, it's not me. Because I never once mocked him.

Yeah, Axelle grew up so fast. From the teenage boy I saw the first time I got to this city and now to a more mature man, I barely recognize him. It was all because of a very drastic physical change in Mate.

"Yes, we are ordinary people. It's not like you're so perfect. I appreciate your change, Axelle. "I know," I said, trying to reassure Axelle.

Axelle then walked closer and closer to me. I was scared, but I knew he wouldn't hurt me. Axelle stood right in front of me and reached out with a clenched fist. Not long after, he opened his fist, and I saw that there was a piece of chocolate wrapped in cute pink plastic.

"Thank you for the chocolate," Axelle said.

"Chocolate?"
