I keep going from upset to angry and while I want to curl up in a ball and cry until I pass out my anger is overriding it and right now I just want to scream and shout and destroy everything in sight. I’ve always been fairly quiet, had no choice but to be that way but for some reason right now I feel stronger than I ever have and ready to take down everything that’s in my sight.
I’m not sure how long we’ve been out here nor am I sure how much time we have left but I doubt it will take that long for Nick to know that I left and I’m pretty sure the moment he knows I’m gone he’ll be looking for me. He could be gone for a few hours but the doctor goes by my room to check on me quite regularly so I need to make the most of every moment.
My body jerks as the realization sets in. Nick is out running the same woods as me what if I run into him? What if he picks up my scent before I pick up his? “Don’t worry, Bon. I’m watching our surroundings. I’ll do all I can to avoid him until you are ready to see him again.” Lexi pants as she slows down her running a little. This is one of the many reasons why I love that wolf. We both know that if she picks up the scent of our mates or sees them all of her instincts will tell her to run to them and yet here she is putting me first once again, like she always has.
Through all of my erratic thinking, I don’t even realize how far we have come until Lexi stops at the top of a cliff that overlooks a waterfall. “Where are we, Lex? Are we still on pack grounds?” She huffs as she steps forward until we can see right over the cliff. “Of course we are, Bon. Were just further back than before. It’s so peaceful here.” She’s right it is and as she flops down onto the ground and relaxes I slowly start to do the same. I take in deep breaths and moan at the scent that surrounds me from the freshness of the forest and the water and let my mind relax so much from the sound of the water as it goes down the waterfall and flows down that lake that I unintentionally fall asleep. What a stupid mistake that was…
“Get up mutt!” I wince then spring awake when I realize I’ve been kicked in the side. I lower my hand to cover my side… wait my hand? I look down and realize that I’m lying on the ground naked in my human foam. What the hell happened to Lexi and who the fuck just kicked me? I jump up from the ground as fast as I can making sure my back faces the waterfall so that I can keep my eyes on my surroundings but I can’t see anyone. “Lex, you there?” Of course, she doesn’t answer and I’m scared, really scared but It looks like I’m on my own here so I pull up my imaginary big girl pants and take in a deep breath
“Who’s there?” I call out but all I hear is the noise from the wasteful. For a second I begin to wonder if I imagined someone kicking me or maybe I’m even dreaming but then I hear a slight noise almost like footsteps and straighten my spine as I wait in silence.
“Did you really think that I would just leave and let you live a life that you don’t deserve?” A chill runs down my spine when I hear his voice as fear spikes throughout my entire body but I try to hide my feelings as his face appears through the trees and all I want to do is run. “Why are you here, Rowan?” My voice sounds a lot more confident than I feel and I’m grateful for it because he thrives on making me suffer and I’m done being his toy, done being his victim.
“Watch your tone when you’re talking to me, dog!” He slowly starts to walk towards me with an evil grin covering his face but that is not what catches my attention, what catches my attention is the girl who walks out behind him. She is very thin but incredibly beautiful, although she’s dressed like she is homeless and it has me confused. “I don’t understand?” Why is he here? What does he want?
“Well, you see little sister, I had planned to head home the morning after the ball but just a few hours before I was due to depart I heard a very interesting conversation, one involving Alpha Nicholas and his best friend Tony, a conversation about you being his mate and well, I couldn’t just let that happen could I?
“You see my friend here is part Witch and she has a small issue with your mate so she was more than happy to help me out. She’s cast a spell that blocks out your wolf so until she removes the spell you can’t shift or talk to your wolf and that’s just how I want it.” Fuck, this is so much worse than I thought. He knows that I’m not physically strong even more so after recent events and without Lexi’s strength I’m basically human, only a weak and useless one.
He takes a few more steps forward closing the last bit of space between us before wrapping his large hand around my throat and gently squeezing. “You have been a burden on this family since the day that you were born, since the day that you killed my mom and I always swore that one day that you would pay, and guess what little sister? Today is that day.”
“Lola, this is my little sister, Bonnie. Bonnie this is my friend Lola or you may know her as Lottie’s mom.”
