Alpha's Regret After the Divorce by Christina novel Chapter 102

Chapter 102

I could tell she was concealing something. “Did they say anything? Leave behind any clues?” I asked, my voice low but urgent.

“Nothing, sir,” Martha replied quietly. “They barely spoke. Very… professional.” She hesitated for a moment, then added cautiously, “If I may ask… you’re Kira’s former mate, aren’t you?”

Hearing Kira’s name spoken aloud made a dangerous stir ripple beneath my skin, awakening the wolf that lurked within me. I clenched my jaw, forcing myself to stay composed. “Yes,” I answered simply.

Martha nodded slowly, as if confirming something to herself. “She mentioned you.”

Her words stopped me cold. “What exactly did she say?”

Martha shook her head, sorrow clouding her face. “Nothing. She was stubborn like that.” Her eyes met mine steadily. “Even in her darkest moments, she refused to say your name.”

I recognized the provocation in her tone, but I refused to give her the satisfaction. “You seem to have some kind of issue with me, Ms. Collins.”

“An issue?” She let out a bitter laugh. “No, Alpha Blackwood. I don’t have a personal grudge against you. I only witnessed how the former Luna, Kira, faced everything alone during her pregnancy. I watched her suffer in silence after losing her child.” Her voice sharpened, each word cutting deep. “What did you give her? Not your time, not happiness. What about money? Where were you when her father needed the healing ritual?”

A sharp pain stabbed my chest, but my face betrayed nothing. Martha’s voice trembled with anger as she continued:

“She was innocent in all of this. The Moon Goddess must have turned away when she chose who to take.” Her hands shook visibly. “How do you manage to sleep at night, Alpha?”

Before I could respond, Dominic stepped forward, his eyes flashing a fierce amber as he growled, “Watch your tongue! You’re speaking to the Alpha!”
