Alpha's Regret After the Divorce by Christina novel Chapter 113

The night air crackled with an almost electric charge as I guided my elite team silently through the dense forest. Every nerve in my body was taut, alert to even the faintest sound or scent. The pale moonlight filtered through the thick canopy above, casting long, ghostly shadows that danced across the uneven ground beneath our feet. We moved with practiced stealth, inching closer to our objective.

“Keep tight formation,” I whispered to the pack trailing behind me like wolves on the hunt. “We have no idea how deeply these Triads have wormed their way into my territory.”

The thought gnawed at me relentlessly, tightening my jaw. How had I overlooked this? How many traitors had been operating undetected, hiding in plain sight within my own domain? My mind flickered back to Kim, to the marking ceremony, and most painfully, to Kira’s death. I’d been so consumed by those events that I’d failed to notice the enemy embedding themselves within my very pack.

Dominic slipped up beside me, his footsteps nearly silent on the soft forest floor. “Alpha, scouts have located the cabin,” he reported in a low voice. “There are signs of a recent struggle—fresh.”

I gave a curt nod, my eyes scanning the treeline ahead, muscles coiled for action. “How many different scents?”

“Three or four distinct individuals have been here recently. One matches Dr. Green’s profile from the hospital records.”

“Tell everyone to stay sharp,” I ordered, my voice hardening. “Dr. Green might just be the tip of the iceberg tonight.”

As we pressed forward, a faint metallic tang drifted on the breeze—blood. My muscles instinctively tensed, the wolf inside me stirring beneath my skin, ready to surface at my command.

“Something’s gone down here,” I muttered to Dominic. “Someone beat us to this place.”

Minutes later, the cabin emerged from the shadows. The door hung ajar, one window shattered, glass glittering faintly in the moonlight. I signaled the team to fan out and secure a perimeter while I approached cautiously. The earth around the cabin was disturbed—scuffed soil, broken branches, and deep claw marks gouged into the bark of a nearby tree.

One of my trackers stepped forward, his head bowed slightly in respect. “Alpha, we’ve identified multiple scent trails. The strongest belongs to Dr. Green, but there are at least three others.”
