Alpha's Regret After the Divorce by Christina novel Chapter 195

Kira’s Perspective:

I found myself pacing restlessly beside the large window of Rocco’s mansion conference room, the polished glass offering a clear view of the immaculate garden outside. The vibrant green lawn and carefully trimmed hedges contrasted sharply with the turmoil inside me. My ankle throbbed beneath the tight bandage, a persistent ache that reminded me of the terrifying ordeal in the cave—not just the physical pain, but everything that had led to this moment.

Behind me, Rocco sat quietly at the head of the long conference table, his fingers steepled thoughtfully, his face betraying no hint of emotion. Andy stood rigidly against the wall, his arms crossed so tightly over his chest that his knuckles whitened, his jaw clenched in obvious frustration and unease. Around the table, Rebecca and the rest of my team were scattered, their faces tense and serious. The atmosphere was so thick with anxiety that I could almost taste it.

On the video screen, Ian’s weary but professional face appeared. He was explaining my father’s condition with clinical precision.

“Based on my evaluation,” Ian’s voice came through the speakers, slightly echoing in the spacious room, “his memory only extends back about five years.” He paused briefly before continuing, “At the moment, he believes that you and Rocco have already completed the werewolf marking ritual and are formally mates.”

A sharp knot twisted in my stomach. Five years ago—the very time I had begun my luna life with Rocco. The timing was cruelly ironic.

Ian’s tone remained steady, but the words were heavy. “Any attempt to forcibly correct his perception could result in severe psychological trauma. I advise a gradual approach to guiding him back to reality once he stabilizes. This process will likely take several weeks, depending on his rate of recovery.”

I gripped the windowsill so tightly my knuckles turned white, struggling to keep my voice steady. “So, how long exactly do we have to pretend we’re a couple?”

Ian’s expression didn’t waver. “At minimum, two to three weeks, possibly longer. I will need to monitor his condition daily.”

“This is absurd!” Andy suddenly pushed away from the wall, his frustration breaking through. “There has to be another way.”

Ian shook his head firmly, his professionalism unwavering. “If you want your father to recover fully, this is the safest path forward.”

Rocco’s voice cut through the tension, quiet but resolute. “No matter how long it takes, I’ll cooperate.”

I turned to face him, unable to hide the bitterness creeping into my tone. “How convenient for you, isn’t it?”

The meeting dragged on, but my thoughts were elsewhere. I was caught in a painful tug of war between my duty to my father and my growing disgust at the charade I was being forced to play. For Dad, I would endure anything—yet the cost was unbearable. Pretending intimacy with the man I once loved, now despised with every fiber of my being, felt like silver chains tightening around my skin with every passing second.

Worse still, lies had a way of growing, snowballing into something uncontrollable. The Kira from three years ago had truly loved Rocco. What if I acted the part too convincingly? What if the lines between truth and pretense blurred? What if, even for a fleeting moment, I forgot everything he had done?
