Alpha's Regret After the Divorce by Christina novel Chapter 93

Chapter 93

The masked figure fell abruptly silent, clearly caught off guard by the unexpected turn of events unfolding before him.

On the screen, Kira’s voice finally broke through the tension—weak, yet unmistakably clear. “Why? Why would you save me? After everything, you betrayed me.”

Our eyes locked across the digital divide. Even though her eyes were hidden beneath the blindfold, I could feel the weight of her presence, the sharp sting of her question cutting straight through me.

“Kira,” I began, the silver blade pressed against my chest growing heavier with each thudding beat of my heart, “there are things I’ve been meaning to tell you for a long time.”

Blood trickled down my shirt as I took another step closer to the screen. “I’m sorry. I should have said it sooner.”

“Stop right there!” the masked figure barked fiercely. “Drop the dagger, or I swear I’ll kill Kira right now!”

But I didn’t flinch. I kept moving forward, my voice dropping into a low, dangerous growl. “If either of them dies, I promise you’ll pay with more than just your life.”

Suddenly, Vanessa’s trembling voice cut through the tension. “If we have to make a choice, then let Kira go. Kim and the baby are more important.”

She turned toward the screen, her gaze fixed on her daughter. “Kira, please forgive me. In another life, I’ll be a better mother.”

A soft, bitter laugh escaped Kira’s lips. “How familiar that sounds—mother choosing my sister over me. Again.”

I saw memories flash across her face: the sting of childhood abandonment, years of loneliness, the crushing weight of never being the first choice. A wave of guilt crashed over me as I realized I had been complicit in that pain.

“Hoggins,” Kira said coldly, addressing Vanessa by her last name, “don’t waste your pity on me. You made your choice long ago.”

Vanessa tried to defend herself, insisting she had no other option, but Kira cut her off sharply.

Then Kira turned to me. “Rocco, remember this: find the one who did this. Protect my father.”

There was something off about Kira’s movements—a subtle shift in her posture, slight twitching at her wrists. I furrowed my brow, trying to understand. Was she adjusting to the pain of the silver chains binding her?

“Thank you for not abandoning me this time,” she said, her voice suddenly stronger, more resolute. “But it’s too late.”

Her tone carried a finality that tightened my stomach. Her fingers twitched again, this time more deliberately.
