Chapter 84

“Is it okay if Rosy and I have some time alone please?” Blake said

softly. His eyes were still not leaving my face.

“Yes, of course. Bub, you rest okay. If you need anything, we will

all be outside” Nate smiled at me and gently placed a kiss on my

forehead. I smiled internally. I was really warming up to him.

They all got up and left the room, closing the door behind them.

Blake sighed and finally got up from his seat. He walked over and sat

near my feet on the bed. I instinctively pulled my legs up and hugged

them. I wasn’t fully comfortable yet. Blake kept his head down and

stared at his fingers.

“Rosy… I’m sorry… I should have said something before the

engagement and you had the right to decide after you knew

everything about me. You never kept any secrets and I feel as though

I’ve betrayed your trust by keeping a secret. Please understand it’s

not something I can just tell anyone. It’s important that only people

that need to know find out otherwise our kind will be in danger.”

He looked up at me and turned a little to face me.

“There is no pressure for you to be with me if you don’t want to. I

obviously understand if this is something you don’t want to be part

always keep you happy”

His words were hitting me in the heart. Deep down I knew Blake

was an amazing guy and would never hurt me but was I ready to

accept his lifestyle? Amongst my thoughts, something dawned on me.

“Kyra… was she your mate?” My voice was still uneven. It sounded

more like an accusation rather than a question.

Blake chuckled “No Angel, she wasn’t. Kyra wasn’t one of us.

Sometimes it can take forever for a werewolf to find its mates. In the

meantime, we can have relationships with humans and in some cases

even build a future with them. I had been searching for my mate since

I turned 16 but then I met Kyra and a defeated me decided to pursue a

relationship with her.”

“I wasn’t going to tell her anything about me until after we got

married but when I found out how much of a bitch she was, I realised

that there was a reason werewolves had soul mates. There was a

reason the bond was created. It was so that we loved and cherished

the right person. So that we didn’t have to get our hearts broken

chasing unworthy people. Her cheating in some ways was a blessing

in disguise. If she hadn’t cheated, I would have moved here and found

you.”
