Their team had started with more than a dozen people. After the run–in with that mutated zombie, only seven were left.

Once everyone gathered, they headed toward where the vehicles were parked.

When Randy saw Cecelia and Jerome getting out of the car that had just entered the town, he blurted, “Holy-” Then he grabbed Jayson’s arm. “Jayson, it’s them!”

Jayson had been looking at the young man stepping out of the driver’s seat. Before he could figure out who it was, Randy’s words pulled his attention away.

The moment he saw Cecelia and Jerome, his pupils tightened. His breathing faltered for a second.

But he quickly steadied himself.

Since that girl named Cecelia was so capable, the strength of this team was obvious. There was no way his own team could take them on.

Jayson’s eyes flickered. A plan quickly formed.

He immediately led his teammates toward Timothy’s team and called out first thing, “Jerome!”

The shout caught everyone’s attention.

Timothy paused and looked at Jerome. “You know him?”

Jerome looked calm. “Yeah.”

Cecelia narrowed her eyes and smiled. “Know him? When I found Jerome, this bunch was just about to toss him to the zombies as bait. If I hadn’t shown up in time, I wouldn’t have a brother anymore.”

What?

Everyone froze at her words.

Ivy looked surprised. “Cece, did a lot happen when you went to find Jerome?”

“Yeah. Long story short, these guys couldn’t beat the mutated zombie, so they pushed someone else out to take the hit. Pretty impressive, huh?”

With her arms crossed, Cecelia summed up the whole team’s character in just a few sentences.

Timothy and the others immediately understood.

When Jayson walked over, he greeted Timothy first with a warm smile. “Hello. I’m Jayson Weller. I didn’t expect to run into another survivor team in Merriton. Looks like our luck isn’t that bad after all.”

Out of basic courtesy, Timothy gave a faint nod before introducing himself. “Timothy Shaw.”

“Timothy Shaw?”

Suddenly, a teenage boy rushed out from the crowd. “Timothy?!”

He stared at Timothy in shock.

Hearing the way he was addressed, Timothy looked at him in confusion. “You know me?”

“It’s me! Don’t you remember, Timothy? Ten years ago, I lived next door to you! You used to tutor me all the time.”

The boy was overjoyed. His eyes practically sparkled as he looked at Timothy.

“Randy?”

Timothy paused, then studied the boy in front of him. “Randy Mandel?”

“Yeah! You still remember me!”

Randy looked so moved he was almost in tears. “I can’t believe we actually get to see each other again!”

The sudden reunion caught everyone off guard.

Even Cecelia couldn’t help sighing.

Her reunion was fake.

But Timothy’s was real.

Looks like the road ahead might take another unexpected turn.

She narrowed her eyes and glanced over everyone in the team.

If nothing unexpected happened, their team would grow again.

For her sister Ivy, that wasn’t exactly good news.

Ryan quickly said something to Matthew before hurrying after them.

“Cece?”

Ivy looked at Cecelia. “Should we go listen too?”

Cecelia stared at her. “Ivy, do you want our team to keep getting bigger?”

Ivy paused. “Cece, what do you mean…?”
