Cecelia lowered her voice. “Anyway, that’s my plan. I know you’ve been through life and death with Timothy’s team for more than a month. It’s normal to feel attached. But this is the apocalypse. Our goal is to survive.

“Remember what I told you about the superbase? Heading toward Briar City is the right direction, but it’s far away. We have no idea what dangers we’ll face along the way. Before, we were too weak. Our abilities leveled up too slowly, so we had no choice but to stay with the team. But now you’re a level 3 healer. I can kill a level 3 mutated zombie on my own. We’re getting stronger. And once Amber grows stronger too, the two of us alone can protect you Jerome.”

Ivy pressed her lips together. After a moment of hesitation, she sighed at Cecelia. “Alright. If it really turns out the way you said, then we’ll leave the team and go on our own.”

That was the answer Cecelia had been waiting for.

She let out a quiet breath of relief.

She had been worried Ivy might stubbornly refuse at this moment.

But she could also tell that the main reason Ivy agreed was her trust in Timothy.

As for Cecelia, it was the opposite. She didn’t trust him.

In her previous life, Timothy’s team had eventually grown just as large as Brandon’s.

“What do you mean?”

Timothy looked at him suspiciously. “He used to be part of your team. Did something happen between you two?”

Jayson gave a bitter smile. “It’s not exactly a grudge. But our team started with more than a dozen people. Now only seven are left, and the truth is… it’s all because of him.”

Matthew stood by the car, glancing toward the small house where Timothy’s and Jayson’s people had gone. “Why aren’t they out yet?” he muttered.

They were probably talking about merging the teams.

Cecelia had no interest in finding out.

She casually crunched on a lollipop while watching Zera sneak out of the car. The girl quickly walked toward Jayson’s teammate, who was guarding the door.

“Cecelia…”

Amber came over and lowered her voice. “Zera looks like she wants to join their team.”

“Yeah.”

Cecelia glanced at her. “Have you figured out how you’re going to do it?”

Amber nodded firmly. “I’ve already decided. I’ll make my move now. If their team accepts her first, it’ll be much harder to get another chance.”
