Cecelia nodded, looking at her with some surprise. “You seem like you grew up overnight. Before last night, you probably would’ve hesitated about how to deal with her, right?”

Amber smiled at her. “Cecelia, I’m not stupid. This is the apocalypse. I used to have my brother protecting me, but now no one does. You gave me this chance. If I don’t take it, I’d despise myself.”

“You trust what I said,” Cecelia said, raising a brow and giving her a faint smile. “Even what I told you about Zera killing your brother. Not even a little doubt?”

“Because I know Zera.”

Amber clenched her teeth. “When my brother died, the way he looked at Zera felt wrong. But she’s too good at pretending. And without proof–or the ability to kill her–I could only wait and see.”

She had suspected Zera for a long time.
