No one expected that Hendrick would come back with that many weapons.

Timothy quickly pulled himself together and looked at Hendrick. “Those weren’t originally from the armory?”

“They were in the armory,” Hendrick replied. “Looks like someone put them there not long ago. I cleared it out and brought everything back.”

“Alright.”

Timothy nodded.

This wasn’t the time to dig into the mystery behind this windfall.

He glanced at Cecilia.

She was following behind Matthew, looking perfectly well–behaved.

“No issues?” Timothy asked Hendrick.

Hendrick knew what he meant. “Nothing major. We’ll talk after we’re back.”

“Okay. Then have Ryan load the weapons first. I’ll go grab the rest of the supplies.”

As he spoke, Timothy looked at Matthew and Cecilia. “You two come help.”

They’d already drawn some of the surrounding zombies away.

But that didn’t mean they wouldn’t wander back.

Ryan was strong and careful while loading the truck.

Still, the noise from stepping inside the cargo bed was unavoidable.

On top of that, he was excited about the guns, and his voice grew louder without him noticing.

“Hendrick, this is great. We’ve upgraded big time!”

“Shh!”

Hendrick signaled for him to shut up. “You want to draw zombies?”

Ryan snapped back to his senses and clamped his mouth shut, getting back to work.

Inside the supermarket, Cecilia followed Timothy in.

She spotted Ivy loading items into a cart.

Chapter 11 Waiting for an Excuse

Hendrick slipped inside at once.

With his wind ability boosting his speed, it took less than three seconds.

Slash.

A zombie’s head was completely severed.

Thud.

It hit the ground and rolled straight to Cecilia’s feet at the doorway.

Cecilia frowned.

She looked up and saw Hendrick giving her a strange look..

She pressed her lips together, crouched down. picked up the zombie’s head, and placed it on a nearby desk. She brushed the dust off its face, wiped away the blood, and gently closed its eyes.

“Please rest in peace.”

Hendrick froze.

Matthew was just as stunned.

What was she doing?

Had she lost her mind?

Cecilia then grabbed a white newspaper and covered the head. She looked at the shocked Hendrick and Matthew and said seriously, “His identity deserved better than this.”

Hendrick was speechless and wondered. Was this her new way of causing trouble?

For some reason, Matthew felt oddly moved.

“Roar!”

There was still one zombie in the room.

While the three off them were frozen, it lunged straight at Hendrick.

Hendrick dodged and immediately kicked the zombie toward Cecilia, letting out a cold laugh. “Fine. Let me see how you them.”

“Hendrick!”

Matthewshion him a disapproving look.

Onions, Matthew was one of the weaker fighters and slower on his feet.

Chapter 13 Red Eyes

But advanced zombies were supposed to appear in Southridge.

And it was only the first month of the apocalypse.

In her last life, the advanced zombie that killed Hendrick and Ryan had been at least level four.

There was no way it could’ve run all the way here from Southridge.

That would be ridiculous.

Her mind raced, thinking through what to do next.

If that really was the case, everyone here would be dead.

Her breath tightened. Her eyes darkened. She bolted outside.

“Cece?”

Ivy reacted too late. Cecilia was already gone.

Outside the supermarket, heavy impacts rang out one after another, like massive objects slamming down from above.

When Timothy rushed out, he saw a zombie crash down onto the bed of their truck.

Hendrick and Ryan had just finished loading weapons into the SUV’s trunk.

They turned at the noise.

Then, the next second-

Bang!

Another heavy impact.

The truck bed shook violently.

Scrape-

Fingernails dragged across the metal cargo bed, producing a piercing sound.
