He took a deep breath and handed the crystal to Timothy, holding back his excitement as he smiled slightly. “I think it’s fine. There’s definitely some kind of energy in it. After I activate my ability, I can absorb it into my body. It fills my ability channels, and I can actually feel it. If I keep absorbing, I might even break through to level 3.”

The moment he said that, Timothy, Ryan, Matthew, and Regina all looked shocked!

After ability users use their abilities, they need time to recover depending on their level.

Timothy, Hendrick, and Ivy all had level 2 abilities, but those breakthroughs happened by accident.

At first, they didn’t even know about levels.

Their powers were fuller, and they could use much more.

For example, Timothy could originally only form small ice cubes.

He basically had to drain all his energy just to use them 30 times.

Hendrick’s wind ability was weaker than Timothy’s ice ability.

“This can’t be real,” Ryan said, still in disbelief.

Cecelia snorted. “Then why don’t you try it yourself?”

“Try it? Fine, I’ll try!”

Ryan got fired up by her words and reached for the crystal in Timothy’s hand.

Timothy stepped back, frowning as he scolded him, “Ryan, don’t mess around.”

Ryan froze, feeling embarrassed. “I–I just want to try…”

Timothy said, “Right now, we don’t fully understand the crystal. We can’t just let anyone use it. What if one crystal only works for one person? What if something goes wrong?”

He frowned and handed the crystal to Hendrick. “Since you’re the one trying first, you should use it all. And if your wind ability breaks through, it’ll be good for our team.”

Hendrick understood what he meant.

Timothy clearly trusted him.

If that’s the case, then he might as well go all the way with the experiment.

Cecelia didn’t say anything. She just stood beside Ivy, calmly watching everything unfold.

Hendrick focused again, absorbing the crystal’s energy.

Since his ability channels were already full, this time the pain and pressure in his channels were even stronger!

His face turned redder and redder, and sweat poured down his forehead.

Ivy watched nervously and grabbed Cecelia’s hand. “Cece, it’s okay, right?” she whispered.

Cecelia nodded. “He’s breaking through. This is normal.”

Ivy finally let out a sigh of relief.

But Ryan was still worried. He looked at Timothy and said, “Timothy, look at Hendrick’s face! It’s so red! He didn’t look like this the last time he leveled up.”

Timothy stayed calm and glanced at him. “You’ve never broken through before, so you don’t know what it’s like. This is a normal reaction. When I reached level 2, it was about the same.”

He guessed that maybe the stronger the reaction during a breakthrough, the more powerful the ability would become afterward.

Now, all they could do was wait to see the result of Hendrick’s upgrade.

But Timothy glanced at Cecelia, who was whispering to Ivy.

From the way Cecelia spoke earlier, the stuff about “reading it in a novel‘ most likely was just an excuse, a cover story.

She probably discovered some things while they weren’t at the safe house, which is why she knew so

much.

But if Cecelia didn’t say anything, they couldn’t exactly force her to tell them.
