Chapter 35 The Red Crystal
Cecelia had spoken out those words as a speculation.

Hendrick narrowed his eyes and studied Cecelia for a moment, as if trying to read something from her face. “What was the name of that apocalypse novel you mentioned?” he asked casually.
Why does he care about that?
Cecelia’s lips twitched slightly. Without missing a beat, she started making things up. “Uh, maybe The Zombie King Fell in Love With Me When the Apocalypse Began?”
“Huh?”
Hendrick paused, clearly caught off guard. The title sounded absurd.
“Or maybe Brandon Wright dominated Apocalypse!”
Hendrick was speechless.
“Or it could be Sabrina Has a Harem in the Apocalypse.”
After tossing out three completely ridiculous titles, Cecelia waved her hand impatiently. “I’ve read too many apocalypse novels. I honestly can’t remember which one it was.”
The corner of Hendrick’s mouth twitched again. He gave Cecelia a cool, measuring look.
Cecelia didn’t flinch. She met his gaze calmly, her face perfectly composed. “You want to read it?” she added lightly. “That might be hard. By now the book probably ended up in some zombie’s stomach.”
“Just curious,” Hendrick said flatly.
He lowered his gaze and continued walking.
Cecelia quietly let out a breath.
She was getting tired of this conversation anyway.
And just like that, the topic ended.
By now they had entered the small town, where the number of wandering zombies had noticeably increased.
The three of them moved carefully through the streets, keeping their steps light and avoiding any unnecessary noise.
Fortunately, their mission today wasn’t to clear zombies or search for supplies. They were only here to find
mutated zombies.
As long as they stayed cautious, the surrounding zombies wouldn’t notice them.
Most of these creatures were blind, after all.

They could only react to sound.
Until they located a mutated zombie, Hendrick had no intention of wasting his ability.
He simply led Cecelia and Ivy along the quieter streets, choosing paths with fewer obstacles.
“I–I think I see one!”
Ivy spoke in a low voice, though excitement still shone in her eyes. She pointed toward a building across the street. “Look! There’s a level 1 zombie standing by that window. It looks like it’s staring at something down below!”
Cecelia had already told her that mutated zombies could see.
So, she immediately shifted her gaze to the street below the building.
Sure enough, another zombie with faint red eyes was wandering near the roadside.
“Two,” Cecelia said quietly.
Her expression sharpened as she tightened her grip on the dagger in her hand.
She glanced at Hendrick. “How should we deal with them?”
If Hendrick weren’t here, she could have handled both of them herself without any trouble.
But now she had to hide her true strength, which complicated things.
Hendrick spoke in a low voice, “Take out the one on the ground first. Then we’ll go inside the building.”
“Alright.”
Cecelia pulled Ivy to the side and hid behind the corner of a nearby wall. “You go ahead,” she told Hendrick calmly. “We’ll wait here.”
Hendrick had no words.
He already knew the girl was deliberately hiding her abilities.
But hearing her push him forward so naturally still made him a little annoyed.
He narrowed his eyes and shot Cecelia a cold glance.
Then his figure suddenly moved. In the blink of an eye, he dashed toward the level 1 zombie about 30 feet
away.
Whoosh!
A sharp gust of wind swept past them.
Ivy’s hair flew across her face. She quickly tucked it behind her ear while staring at Hendrick’s retreating figure, her eyes full of admiration. “So fast!”

Cecelia almost said that kind of speed was completely normal for someone with a wind ability.
But just then, her gaze shifted.
Behind them, not far away, another level 1 zombie had just shuffled past a nearby corner.
Cecelia immediately scanned the area.
The spot where she and Ivy stood was clear of zombies.
Without hesitation, she grabbed Ivy’s wrist and quietly moved toward the direction of that zombie.
“Cece?” Ivy asked in confusion.
Cecelia released her hand. “Ivy, stay here and keep watch. I’m going to deal with that level 1 zombie.”
Before Ivy could respond, Cecelia had already rushed forward.
Her speed was so sudden that Ivy froze in place.
In the blink of an eye, Cecelia appeared behind the zombie. She lifted her dagger and drove it straight into the back of its skull.
Fast. Clean. Precise.
Then the dagger moved again in her hand, swift and practiced.
With a few skillful twists, she dug a crystal out from the zombie’s brain.
There was no messy searching like Matthew had done before.
Everything was quick and accurate.
Cecelia even took out a bottle of water from her bag and rinsed the crystal clean before heading back.
‘Ivy, look.” She placed the small crystal into Ivy’s palm.
‘A level 1 zombie crystal. Light red.”
[vy stared at it, stunned.
In truth, she still hadn’t recovered from the scene she had just witnessed. Cecelia’s movements had been unbelievably fast.
How could she move like that?
Was this the result of all the training she had done inside that strange blank space?
“T–that’s amazing!” Ivy blurted out.
Cecelia glanced toward the distance and saw Hendrick finishing off his zombie and pulling out its crystal. “Ivy, put it away,” she said quickly. “Don’t let anyone know you have a crystal.”
