Cecelia had not gone on that mission back then. She only heard about it later from Ivy.
Ryan had been caught by an advanced zombie while trying to save Ivy.
That advanced zombie was far too powerful. Timothy and the others were no match for it.
The moment Ryan was grabbed, his head and body were torn apart. He died with his eyes wide open.
Because of that, Ivy had nightmares for an entire year.
Every time she woke up, she would cry and talk about how guilty she felt toward Ryan.
As for the other members—
Cecelia glanced at them from the corner of her eye.
Matthew, who usually had little presence but stayed loyal to Timothy until the very end.
And Regina, a psychic ability user who had a quiet personality and had a crush on Timothy.
Those two managed to survive with Timothy for a long time, but their end was just as tragic.
Matthew fell for the female lead of the original plot, Sabrina Lowe. She kept him hanging for a long time, playing with his feelings.
When he finally realized Sabrina was only toying with him, he went to confront her.
Sabrina then accused him of trying to assault her, and Brandon killed Matthew on the spot.
He had people throw Matthew's body outside the base to feed the zombies.
Later, he sent Matthew's head back to Timothy as a warning to keep his people in line.
Regina's fate was even worse.
Timothy opposed Brandon and was captured and humiliated.
Regina pretended to surrender to Brandon to save Timothy.
In the end, she was tricked by Brandon and died in a horrific gang rape.
Brandon had even forced Timothy, who had been tortured until he was barely alive and half turned into a zombie, to watch.
In the end, Timothy was driven to death by rage.
After he mutated into an advanced zombie, Brandon cut off his head and took the crystal from his brain to strengthen his own ability.
The fate of their entire team was beyond tragic!
However—
Just the thought of Brandon's team made Cecelia grit her teeth.
In her previous life, Ivy believed that they could receive slightly better treatment by voluntarily joining Brandon's team.
That was true, but only because Brandon liked Ivy.
Later, Sabrina appeared—
Cecelia slowly closed her eyes, not daring to think any further.
Otherwise, her mind would be filled with the image of Brandon pushing Ivy into a horde of zombies just to please Sabrina.
When she thought about it this way, their team was doomed from the beginning.
They were stepping stones for Brandon's rise.
Not a single one of them had a good ending.
Compared to that, the deaths of Hendrick and Ryan were the least miserable.
The advanced zombie that killed the two of them was later killed by Brandon.
Including herself...
All of them had died because of the same person.
Cecelia couldn't help but sneer in her heart.
Of course, it happened. Brandon was the male lead, and Sabrina was the female lead.
Anyone who went against them was bound to meet a terrible end.
That even included the supervillain who appeared later—the Dark Lord, wielder of the extremely rare dark ability.
"Tomorrow's mission is a bit dangerous. Ivy will stay at the shelter to rest. Hendrick, Ryan, Matthew, and Regina, come to my room tonight to discuss the plan.”
Timothy's voice pulled Cecelia back to the present.
She realized that he had skipped right over her.
"Timothy.”
Ivy looked at him with a slight frown and spoke gently, "I am fine. I can go out with you guys tomorrow. If any of you get hurt, I can heal you right away.”
"No way, Ivy. If you go, that lazy bum will be the only one left here. She can't cook, and she can't find food—she just waits for you to feed her. We don't even know when we'll be back. What if she starves to death?”
"Cece...”
Seeing how firm Cecelia was, and with Hendrick agreeing, Ivy began to waver.
She had always hoped Cecelia would pull herself together.
If Cecelia went out with them to fight zombies, she would learn some survival skills.
Then Ivy would not have to worry so much about her when going on missions in the future.
Thinking of that, Ivy sighed and looked at Timothy. "Since Hendrick agreed, I think we can give Cece another chance to train. I will go with you and keep an eye on her.”
"Hendrick? Ivy?” Ryan exploded again.
He glared at Cecelia and sneered. "How could someone like her possibly change? If she ever stops causing trouble, I'll cut off my own head and let her use it as a ball!”
"I'm not into that,” Cecelia said calmly with a snort. "But I might consider letting you be my servant for a month. You'd have to obey my every order.”
"You—you!”
Ryan's face flushed with anger at her shameless tone. "You useless freeloader! You've got some nerve! I'll teach you a lesson today!”
Cecelia glanced at him. "Why are you always so worked up?”
"Damn it!”
Ryan hated it when people said he had a bad temper.
Her words were like fuel on the fire, and he completely lost control.
He rolled up his sleeves and charged at her.
Ivy quickly stepped in front of Cecelia.
Timothy's temples throbbed as he barked, "Ryan, sit down!”
Thud.
Before Ryan could move further, Hendrick pushed him back into his chair with one hand.
"Hendrick, you—”
"What are you so worked up about?”
Hendrick crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair, rocking it lazily. He narrowed his eyes at Timothy with amusement. "Since she wants to turn over a new leaf, we should give her a chance, right?”
Timothy looked at him thoughtfully after hearing that.
