Chapter 48 Strange Business in the Dark
Ivy nodded. “Don’t worry, Timothy. We’ll handle the night watch.”

Timothy gave a short nod. His eyes drifted to Cecelia, who was sitting nearby with a lollipop in her mouth. A complicated look flashed across his face.
If this had been the Cecelia from a few days ago, he would never have allowed the two sisters to stand watch alone.
But what she showed during the fight earlier had surprised him.
Timothy knew exactly how fast a level 2 zombie could move. He had fought one himself.
Yet Cecelia had managed to draw its attention, move just as quickly, and escape without a single scratch.
The old Cecelia definitely couldn’t do that.
Unless… Maybe she had always been capable. Maybe she just hiding it.
He couldn’t figure it out.
But one thing was clear.
Just like Hendrick had said, Cecelia’s changes weren’t bad fo
the team.
the often spoke in hints and half–truths, but the information she gave always turned out to be useful.
For now, she was trustworthy enough.
Timothy lowered his gaze, stopped thinking about it, and got into the vehicle to rest.
“Hey, lazy bum!”
Ryan climbed into the truck too. Before shutting the door, he shouted at Cecelia. “Standing guard isn’t easy. Don’t start trouble tonight!”
Cecelia crossed her arms and gave him a cold smile. “We’re in the middle of nowhere. Not even a zombie around. If I really wanted trouble, I’d lure a pack of wild wolves over here and let them tear you apart. Maybe that would teach you how to lose properly.”
“You brat!”
Ryan’s eyes widened in anger. “Who are you trying to scare? If you were really that capable, why did you hide behind Ivy for more than a month? All you do is talk big and make up stories, you lazy bum!”
Cecelia snorted. “Don’t believe me? Want to try it?”
She glanced toward the dark fields and the patch of woods in the distance. Then she lifted her head as if
she were about to whistle.
Her tone sounded so serious it almost felt real.

Ryan’s face instantly changed.
His heart skipped a beat.
Is she serious? If she really lured wolves here, all of us would be done.
“Alright, Cece.”
Ivy quickly grabbed Cecelia’s hand and pressed it down. “Stop scaring him. His face is already pale.”
Ryan froze. His face really had turned pale.
For a moment, he felt completely embarrassed.
That lazy bum is bluffing!

Cecelia let out a quiet laugh. “Who walks that far just to use the bathroom? And into the woods?”
Back when Zera was in Brandon’s team, she had used plenty of tricks to charm men.
Ivy finally understood what Cecelia meant. She was shocked. She glanced at the woods and asked softly, “At a time like this? That can’t be right.”
“Just wait and see,” Cecelia said calmly.
She finished one lollipop and unwrapped another.
Ivy sighed softly. “Cece, you should train. Don’t worry so much about other people.”
“Alright.”
Cecelia slowly closed her eyes and entered the blank space in her mind.
After finishing a thousand push–ups, Ivy’s voice reached her ears.
“Cece, they’re back.”
Cecelia opened her eyes. In the distance, Brian was walking back from the woods, holding Zera’s hand.
As they got closer, Cecelia noticed Zera’s messy hair. The collar of her shirt hung open, and several buttons were undone. Her short skirt had ridden up higher, exposing her pale thighs.
She looked unwilling as Brian pulled her along.
Brian kept talking, trying to comfort her. But Zera’s frown never eased.
Any adult could guess what the two of them had been doing.
Ivy had never been in a relationship before, but her instincts still made her frown.
Something felt wrong.
“Cece,” she whispered, “it looks like Brian forced Zera…”
Cecelia’s eyes widened at her word.
Wow! So the tricks Sabrina used on Matthew, she must have learned them from Zera. What a performance.
Ivy’s first reaction was that Zera had been forced.
But if Zera truly didn’t agree, everyone was nearby. All she had to do was shout.
Could Brian really have done anything to her?
Yet the way Zera acted made people immediately misunderstand the situation.
