Chapter 50 Cecelia’s Plan

Even though she was trapped in that body, Cecelia could never forget how Ivy died in her previous life. Zombies had torn Ivy apart. In those final seconds, Ivy looked at her. Her eyes were filled with despair, pain, and deep disappointment.
That look never left Cecelia.
Every time she remembered it, her chest tightened. It felt like someone was carving pieces out of her heart again and again.
A voice in her mind kept whispering–Ivy’s death wasn’t only Brandon and Sabrina’s fault. She had played
a part too.
“Cece?”
When Cecelia stayed silent for too long, Ivy grew worried. She turned and saw Cecelia’s eyes were red.
“Cece, what’s wrong?”
Cecelia shook her head quickly. “Nothing. I just remembered something unpleasant.”
Ivy’s sympathy for Zera had pulled Cecelia back into memories of her previous life.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became.
But she also felt helpless.
She knew Ivy too well.
Ivy had a soft heart. She believed what she saw with her own eyes.
Even if Cecelia told her right now that Zera was trouble, Ivy would only keep that thought in mind at first.
But if Ivy later saw Zera doing something nice, she would start thinking maybe Zera wasn’t as bad as Cecelia believed. Maybe they could still get along.
That was Ivy. Some people would call it kindness. Others would call it being too soft.
If Ivy weren’t her sister, Cecelia might have kicked someone like that out of the team long ago.
Because in the apocalypse, survival depended on a clear mind and a ruthless heart. Not blind kindness.
“Cece, do you want to go train for a bit?” Ivy asked softly, sensing something was wrong.
Cecelia nodded. “Yeah. I’ll go for a while. Ivy, keep watch. Call me if anything happens.”
“Alright.” Ivy smiled gently. “But don’t overdo it.”
Cecelia answered with a quiet “mm,” then closed her eyes and entered the blank space.
This time, she trained while thinking.

Chapter 50 Cecelia’s Plan
How could she make Ivy see Zera’s true nature as soon as possible?
Using Zera as a lesson might be the best way.
Let Ivy learn the hard way.
That had been Cecelia’s real reason for allowing Zera’s group to join them.
After finishing 2,000 sit–ups, an idea suddenly struck her.
Her eyes lit up. “Got it.”

At midnight, Ivy woke Cecelia.
It was their turn to rest.
Timothy and Ryan took over the night watch.
The night passed quietly.
When morning came, Cecelia woke with a long yawn.
Matthew was already outside preparing breakfast.
Ryan was still in the fields, stubbornly chasing rabbits. He looked miserable, covered in dirt and grass.
But this time, he had gotten smarter. After shamelessly begging Hendrick for help, he finally had some
results.
Hendrick’s small wind blade was more than enough to kill a rabbit.
He lazily flicked two blades toward the rabbits Ryan had flushed out of the grass.
A moment later, they caught two big rabbits.
Ryan immediately grabbed them and ran over to show Cecelia, who had just woken up. “See that?” he said proudly. “I’m way better than you!”
“I don’t know if you’re good at catching rabbits,” she said calmly, “but your thick skin is impressive. Someone else helps you catch them, and you still act like it’s your achievement. Amazing. As expected from a loser!”
“You brat!”
Ryan couldn’t argue with her. He was so angry his hands shook while holding the rabbits.
Cecelia gave him a sideways glance. “What? Did I say something wrong?”
Ryan’s face turned red with rage. He shoved the rabbits into Timothy’s hands. “Timothy, cook these! I’m going back to catch more rabbits. I’ll catch them myself!”

He refused to believe it.
If Cecelia could do it, why couldn’t he?
Even if he had to dig up every rabbit hole in the field, he would catch a few himself today.
Timothy watched Ryan storm off, completely provoked.
He looked helpless.
Then he glanced at Cecelia.
Cecelia spread her hands innocently. “Not my fault. He started it. He can’t handle losing and insists on playing the game.”
Timothy sighed.
Because she was right.
Ryan’s temper was too easy to trigger. That was a problem he needed to fix.
Hendrick glanced at Cecelia.
This girl sure held grudges.
She was clearly making Ryan run around as payback for all the times he had targeted her before.
But it was just childish banter. Nothing serious.
What really mattered was something else.
Hendrick glanced toward the sedan where Brian and the others were staying.
Then he asked Timothy, “Did you notice anything strange during your watch last night?”
Timothy followed his gaze and frowned slightly. “Zera was
crying.”
Hendrick narrowed his eyes and gave a cold chuckle. “Funny. I heard it too.”
As for why she was crying, no one cared enough to ask. They weren’t that kindhearted.
Ryan had a bad temper. He heard Zera run outside of the car and cry in the middle of the night. He yelled at her right away. He asked if she was trying to attract wild wolves or nearby zombies with all that noise.
Zera turned pale with fear. She quickly climbed back into the car.
When Hendrick saw that scene, only one thought crossed his mind. That woman really loved putting on a
show.
