Brian looked at Amber sternly. “There are things you don’t understand yet. I’ll explain later. Right now I need to find Zera. Clean up the house while I’m gone. I’ll be back soon.”
Amber called after his name, but he rushed out the door.
Amber stood there, angry and helpless. In the end, she covered her face and quietly began to cry.
Not far away, Cecelia finished watching the drama while slowly sucking on her lollipop.
She felt a little sorry for Amber.
The girl looked about eighteen. She seemed shy and quiet.
Earlier, she had only exploded with courage because she saw her brother knocked down by a zombie. In that moment of fear, she somehow found the strength to chop off the zombie’s head.
But unfortunately, Brian cared more about his girlfriend.
Even though he knew Zera had run away out of fear, he still rushed off to chase after her.
Cecelia suddenly thought of something.
She glanced at Hendrick, who had been watching the drama beside her. “Hey,” she asked casually, “are guys who chase after girls like that always this hopeless?”
Hendrick’s lips twitched. “No idea. I don’t know anyone like that.”
“Fair enough.”
Cecelia studied his face for a moment. She commented darkly, “Someone who looks like you probably has plenty of girls chasing him. I doubt you’d ever be a simp.”
Hendrick narrowed his eyes and looked at her. “Is that a compliment? Or are you mocking me for attracting too many girls?”
“That depends on how you want to hear it.”
With that, Cecelia headed toward their safe house.
She had a feeling there might be more drama waiting.
And she was right.
After only a few steps, she saw Zera clinging to Brian and crying softly in his arms.
Brian gently patted her back and coaxed, “It’s okay, Zera. I’m not blaming you. I know you were scared. Anyone would run in that situation.”
“Brian, I didn’t faint on purpose earlier. You know my blood sugar drops sometimes. How could they say things like that about me?”

Brian patted her back, his face full of concern. “I know. They didn’t want us following them anyway. They probably made up an excuse to push us away.”
“Bohoo! Brian, you’re so good to me. Thank you for believing me!”
“It’s fine. Let’s go back and get some rest. We’ll deal with the rest later.”
“Okay.”
Brian held Zera and started walking back toward the house.
But when he turned around, he suddenly saw Cecelia and Hendrick standing nearby. His face stiffened with embarrassment.
When Zera met Cecelia’s cold gaze, she shivered. Then she leaned closer to Brian and spoke softly. “I have a feeling. Cecelia really doesn’t like me.”
“Yeah. I noticed that too.”
“So what happened earlier must have been her doing. Timothy and the others are on her team. Of course they’d believe her.”
Inside, Zera was furious.
had been perfect, but Cecelia had ruined everything.
thought she understood Cecelia’s reason for targeting her.
a simply didn’t want her joining their group.
She must be afraid Zera would replace Ivy.
After all, the moment Zera first saw Ivy, she understood something. Ivy was the same kind of woman as her. They had to rely on men to survive.
Brian also found it odd. Why was Cecelia targeting Zera?
“Zera, you don’t know Cecelia, right?”
“No.” Zera shook her head. “I’ve never seen her before.”
Brian frowned. “I see. Then I’ll go find some food. Later I’ll talk to Cecelia and ask why she’s treating you like this.”
For now, they still needed to stay close to Timothy’s team.
If there was a misunderstanding, it was better to clear it up.
“Okay.”

Cecelia had ruined her plan.
Now, she needed to find another way to stay in Timothy’s group.

After watching Brian and Zera’s little scene, Cecelia lost interest and headed back to the shelter.
Hendrick, however, felt curious.
Earlier, Cecelia said she wished Zera would die.
But now she was only watching.
She hadn’t tried to kill Zera at all.
Was she waiting for the right moment?
Cecelia noticed Hendrick watching her, but she ignored it.
Her mind was busy thinking about how to deal with Zera.
The truth was, killing the main supporting character of Brandon and Sabrina’s group was not simple.
She had tried in her previous life.
After Ivy died, Cecelia struggled to survive for three years. Only then did she finally break free from the strange force controlling everything.
From that moment on, she had only one goal. Revenge for Ivy.
Her first target was Sabrina.
Brandon himself was powerful.
But Sabrina was different. She had no real strength. She was simply surrounded by men who fought over her. As long as Cecelia waited for the right moment–when those men weren’t around–she might have a chance to kill Sabrina.
She waited for two years before that chance appeared.
At that time, Sabrina had a man obsessed with her named Rex Madron.
Rex’s father was a general at Apex Base.
Rex himself had no abilities. He was weak and useless. Whenever he left the base, he depended on ability users from his father’s army to protect him.
Despite being so weak, he loved acting like some powerful boss in a dramatic romance story. He got jealous easily. He threw tantrums. At one point, he even locked Sabrina inside his father’s base.
