Chapter 59 Something Is Wrong with the Crystals.

In the end, Cecelia had no choice but to target Rex first.

Her dagger was about to slide into his neck, but it happened again.

A strange force seized control of her body. Her hand jerked backward.

The blade turned in her grip and plunged straight into her shoulder.

spot.

At first, she thought someone was secretly protecting Rex. It seemed like the only explanation.

So, she decided to test it again.

She waited more than two weeks before another chance came.

Sabrina was taken away by her group of simps.

Rex ignored everyone’s warnings and ran out alone to chase after her.

She followed him from a distance. When Rex fell into the trap she had set and passed out, she tried again.

But the result was the same. Before she could finish the attack, that strange force took control again.

Her shoulder had barely healed, yet the dagger stabbed into it once more.

She almost spit blood from anger.

In the end, she had to drag Rex out of the trap and pretend she had saved him. That allowed her to stay close to him for a while.

To be fair, Rex was useful. With his father’s authority, things moved quickly.

Before long, Sabrina was forced to return to the base controlled by Rex’s father.

That gave her another chance. This time, she targeted another simp of Sabrina.

His name was Grayson Potter. He had a metal–type ability.

While protecting Sabrina during a fight with a level 5 zombie, he lost one of his arms. When they carried him back, he was barely alive and lying helpless on a bed.

Using Rex’s ID, she easily found him.

He had no strength to fight back.

Without hesitation, she raised her dagger and aimed for his throat.

But once again, that mysterious force interfered.

There had been another chance to kill Zera once, but the result had been exactly the same.

Cecelia finished recalling the past. Her eyes narrowed slightly. Tonight, she planned to test it on Zera.

At the safe house, Matthew and Regina had already roasted the rabbit Ryan caught earlier that morning.

When Cecelia and Hendrick returned, the rest were already sitting around the table, ready to eat.

Ryan grumbled, “This town is way too small. I walked all over and didn’t see a single mutated zombie.”

No mutated zombies meant no crystals.

And without crystals, he couldn’t upgrade his ability.

The more he thought about it, the more frustrated he felt.

Even the rabbit meat tasted dull.

Timothy glanced at him. Then he took out a level 1 zombie crystal and handed it to him. “Try this. Let’s see if it helps your ability.”

Ryan’s eyes lit up. “Thanks, Timothy! I knew you were the best!”

He held the crystal like it was precious treasure. Then he stopped eating, closed his eyes, and tried to absorb the crystal’s energy.

Everyone else watched helplessly.

Cecelia raised an eyebrow and looked at him with quiet amusement.

Ryan sat there with his eyes tightly shut, concentrating as hard as he could.

But something felt wrong. No matter how hard he tried, the crystal in his hand showed no reaction.

Ryan suddenly opened his eyes. He looked at Timothy and Hendrick in confusion. “Why can’t I feel the power inside this crystal?”

Ryan handed it over.

Hendrick held the crystal and focused for a moment.

As soon as he used a bit of mental energy, the crystal’s power clearly flowed into his body.
