Chapter 88 Stay Secret
“Metal control ability?”
Cecelia looked at Amber in surprise.

This wasn’t a normal ability. Its power could be even stronger than Timothy’s ice ability or Hendrick’s wind ability.
So this was a pleasant surprise.
Cecelia narrowed her eyes. She placed the dagger in her palm and looked at Amber. “This is metal too. Try to make it float.”
“Okay!”
Amber nodded quickly. She focused and used her ability on the dagger.
Soon, the dagger slowly lifted into the air.
But her ability was still weak. In less than 20 seconds, the dagger dropped back into Cecelia’s hand.
Amber’s face turned red. “Sorry, Cecelia. This is the best I can do right now…”
“You did pretty well.”
Cecelia spoke calmly, “This is a strong ability. If you train and level up, you’ll have a good future.”
“Really?”
Amber wiped the sweat off her face. Hope filled her eyes as she looked at Cecelia. “Cecelia, since I have an ability now, can I stay in your
team?”
“I don’t know. That’s not my decision.”
Cecelia stood up and brushed off her clothes, even though there was no dust. Then she wiped the dagger with a tissue and looked at Amber. “You can tell them you awakened an ability. But don’t tell them I helped you awaken it. This matter–and the deal between us–must stay secret. Do you understand?”
“I understand, Cecelia!”
Amber nodded again and again.
She would never betray Cecelia.
Cecelia had given her hope, and that meant a lot.
Now that she had an ability, her chances of surviving in this apocalypse were much higher.
The more she thought about it, the more grateful she felt.
Even if Cecelia’s goal was only to make a deal with her and use her, it didn’t matter.

“But this crystal…”
Amber opened her hand. The red crystal had already turned completely clear.
The moment her palm opened, the crystal suddenly broke apart into tiny pieces, like shattered glass.
“What happened?”
She looked at Cecelia, confused.
“That’s normal,” Cecelia said calmly.
Then she briefly explained the zombie ranking system to Amber. She also warned her, “Everything I told you must stay secret.”
“Okay!”
Amber nodded quickly.
She didn’t know why Cecelia wanted her to keep it secret, but she was willing to listen.
She also memorized everything Cecelia had just told her.
Cecelia checked the time.
“Dawn is coming. Go back now.”
“Okay!”
Amber quickly stood up and followed her.
But the moment the door opened, a loud zombie roar came from outside.
And it was very close.
Cecelia’s face changed slightly. From the sound, it was very likely a level 3 zombie.
She also heard voices in the distance.
Not just one person.
It sounded like a group–at least ten people.
A survivor team.
Cecelia quickly made a judgment. Then she frowned and looked at Amber. “Hide here and don’t go outside. I’ll go check what’s happening.”
This place was about a little over a mile from the safe house.
The noise from a level 3 zombie would probably attract Timothy and the others too.

So she needed to investigate first.
Amber nodded and obediently closed the door.
Cecelia frowned and ran toward the direction of the noise.
A few minutes later, she saw it.
A level 3 zombie was chasing a group of people.
Two people who fell behind were quickly caught.
Fierce claws punctured directly into their hearts.
Slash!
Their hearts were ripped out instantly.
They didn’t even have time to scream.
Blood sprayed everywhere and stained the ground.
The two bodies collapsed with a heavy thud. After twitching twice, they stopped moving.
The level 3 zombie stuffed the two hearts straight into its mouth and ate them.
What annoyed Cecelia even more was that the zombie kept chasing the others while eating.
