Chapter 93 A Brutal Ambush

Ivy immediately stood up when she saw Cecelia and walked over to meet her.

Cecelia smiled at her and quickly pulled Jerome over. “Ivy, look who this is.”

Ivy froze for a moment, her face full of confusion as she looked at her.

Cecelia brushed aside Jerome’s long bangs, revealing the handsome young face underneath. “Jerome! Our cousin! It’s been years since we’ve seen him, hasn’t it?”

Ivy hesitated for a moment. After catching Cecelia’s meaningful look, she instantly understood and said in surprise, “Is it really Jerome? I haven’t seen him in so long! You’ve grown up so much!”

Seeing that Ivy had caught on, Cecelia raised an eyebrow and continued the act. She pulled Jerome along and ‘said, “My sister, your older cousin Ivy. Don’t tell me you forgot her too?”

The corner of Jerome’s mouth twitched slightly. He said in a low voice, “Yeah… it’s been a long time.”

“It’s fine. You can take your time remembering.”

After saying that, Cecelia pushed him toward the couch and made him sit down.

The confused ones were Matthew, Ryan, and Regina.

All three of them looked at Timothy with puzzled expressions.

Where had Cecelia brought this random guy from?

Since Ivy had already acknowledged him as family, Timothy no longer doubted it and explained, “When Cecelia took Amber out earlier to kill zombies, they happened to run into Jerome. He was in a survivor group fighting a mutated zombie.”

Matthew and Regina nodded in sudden understanding.

Ryan crossed his arms and snorted. He looked at Jerome and said, “Judging by how skinny you are, I bet you haven’t even killed a zombie before.”

Jerome looked up at him but didn’t answer.

Cecelia immediately stepped forward and stood in front of Jerome. She looked at Ryan with clear impatience. “I’ll teach him. So do me a favor and keep your mouth shut. Mind your own business.”

“Fine. Then I’ll watch closely and see how you teach him. Just remember, our team doesn’t keep useless freeloaders!”

Ryan said it mockingly, emphasizing the last few words.

Cecelia didn’t bother responding to him anymore.

Ivy looked at Jerome, who was sitting beside her, and felt a bit conflicted.

She didn’t understand why Cecelia had brought back this unfamiliar boy.

Timothy hadn’t even reached the house yet when he shouted urgently, “Ivy! Hendrick needs you!”

Cecelia paused while grabbing the clothes.

She watched as Matthew carried Hendrick into the house and placed him on the coffee table.

Only then did everyone see that Hendrick’s entire body looked burned. Even his hair was standing on end!

But that wasn’t the main problem.

The main problem was that he was unconscious, and there were several bloody wounds all over his body.

The worst one was on his chest. A long gash about seven inches across tore through his skin and flesh. Blood poured out continuously.

Matthew had carried him on his back, and the back of Matthew’s shirt was completely soaked in blood.

Even Ivy was shocked by the severity of the injuries. She quickly stepped forward and used her ability to start healing Hendrick.

“What happened? How did Hendrick end up like this?”

Ryan’s face darkened, disbelief written all over it.

After knowing Hendrick for so long, he had never seen him in such a miserable state.

Matthew furrowed his brows and said in a low voice, “We found Hendrick like this in an alley not far from here. When we got there, he was already barely conscious. There weren’t any signs of a fight nearby. Judging from the wounds on his body, it looked more like someone suddenly attacked him and then tried to finish him off.”

Timothy’s expression was just as grim. “The other person probably intended to kill Hendrick. But they must have noticed us approaching and fled first. When we found Hendrick, I saw a figure running away.”
