Approved for Her Rejected for Me novel Chapter 30

Chapter 5

His question caught Harrison off guard, leaving him momentarily speechless.

What had happened all those years ago had always been handled with deliberate vagueness by the Darkclaw Pack-a private shame, never to be fully laid bare.

Richard spoke in a low voice, “It was… a family matter. But since you’re Willow’s mate, you should know some things. Seven years ago, Willow was sent abroad due to certain events.”

Maverick’s tone held a hint of amusement, “Such as?”

Sophia sighed, “Maverick, let’s leave the past where it belongs. This is your first visit. We shouldn’t dwell on old troubles.”

But Chloe, relentless as always, spoke up, “Sophia, why can’t we bring it up?”

“Seven years ago, she drugged Harrison with wolfbane and aphrodisiacs, trying to seduce her own brother! The whole pack knows!”

“Now she’s back, acting as if nothing happened, and even hits people. Why should we tolerate that?”

Chloe’s words were like a stone thrown into a calm lake.

Maverick’s expression finally shifted.

He turned to me, his voice soft, “Is what she said true?”

I met his gaze and shook my head firmly, “I didn’t drug anyone.”

Chloe sneered, “Of course, she won’t admit it! Everyone saw it! She was all over Harrison, the evidence is

clear!”

Maverick ignored Chloe, focusing his gaze on me, “Then why were you sent abroad?”

I took a deep breath, “Because the Darkclaw Pack needed someone to take the blame for that spectacle…

and I was the most convenient choice.”

Harrison suddenly stood up, “You’re lying! It was you who…”

Maverick’s eyes turned cold as he looked at Harrison, “I’m asking my mate.”

Harrison immediately fell silent.

Maverick’s gaze returned to me, waiting for my explanation.

I slowly spoke, calmly recalling, “It was my birthday party. I drank and confessed my feelings to Harrison.”

I

“He kissed me. Richard saw us. After that… I was already guilty.”

“I didn’t drug anyone, nor did I try to seduce anyone. But no one believed me, not even Harrison.”

I glanced at Harrison, but he avoided my gaze.

“After that, I was sent abroad, and I didn’t return for seven years. Until today.”

Once I finished speaking, the room fell into a heavy silence.

Maverick was quiet for a moment before turning to Richard, “Did you ever look into what really happened that night?”

Richard’s expression tightened. “What was there to investigate? Everyone saw what happened.”

Maverick’s voice held an undercurrent of barely concealed anger, “So you never investigated. You simply

decided it was Willow’s fault.”

Harrison snapped, “What are you implying? That we framed her?”

Maverick finally looked at Harrison, his gaze sharp, “Mr. Cole, I’m just stating the facts. I would advise you not to let emotion cloud your judgment.”

“You!” Harrison’s face turned red with anger.

Richard stepped in to stop Harrison, turning to Maverick, “Enough. Maverick, I understand you want to defend your mate. But what’s done is done. Let it stay in the past.”

Maverick nodded smoothly, “You’re right. The past is indeed behind us. But…”

He shifted his tone, “Since we’re digging up old stories, we might as well do it thoroughly.”

“Who was responsible for the drinks at that birthday party? Was there any surveillance footage? Did Darkclaw Pack investigate?”

Richard was stunned.

After the incident, Darkclaw Pack’s first instinct was to suppress the scandal, not to conduct a proper

investigation.

Sophia tried to smooth things over, “After all these years, does it really matter?”

Maverick’s voice was firm, “It matters. It matters to Willow’s name.”

He stood up and took my hand, “Since the Darkclaw Pack has no intention of clearing her name, I will.”

I gently pressed his hand, speaking softly, “You don’t have to. I’ve made my peace with it.”

Maverick looked down at me, his gaze soft, “But I haven’t.”
