Approved for Her Rejected for Me novel Chapter 31

Chapter 6

Chloe’s face drained of color as she realized why Maverick looked so familiar.

She had seen him in financial magazines before, but never had she imagined meeting him in this way.

Harrison also looked at Maverick in shock, then at me, his gaze filled with complexity.

Sophia hesitated, about to speak, “Willow, you…”

Maverick interrupted her, “We should leave now. Willow is tired.”

He took my hand and led me toward the door.

As we were about to leave, Harrison suddenly called out, “Willow.”

I stopped but didn’t turn around.

Harrison’s voice was low, “About what happened seven years ago… I’m sorry. I was…. scared. I panicked.”

I stood in silence for a few seconds, not responding, and followed Maverick out of the Darkclaw Pack

without looking back.

Once we were in the car, Maverick didn’t immediately start the engine.

He turned to me, carefully inspecting my wrist.

The spot Harrison had gripped earlier had already turned red.

“Does it hurt?” he asked again.

I shook my head, “No, it’s fine.”

Maverick pulled out an ice pack from the car fridge, wrapped it in a towel, and gently placed it on my wrist.

He asked, “Why didn’t you tell me?”

I knew what he meant, the truth about the slap from earlier and the events from seven years ago.

I lowered my gaze, “There’s nothing to say. It’s all in the past.”

Maverick’s voice remained calm, but there was a quiet strength beneath it. “But it’s still shaping your

present.”

I fell silent.

Maverick sighed and pulled me into his embrace, “Willow, you don’t have to carry all of this alone anymore.

So, tell me. Please?”

His embrace was so warm that I finally couldn’t hold back my tears.

All those years in the Darkclaw Pack, I’d taught myself to be strong, to stand alone.

But with him, every wall I’d built began to crumble.

I buried my face in his neck, my voice choking with emotion “I really didn’t drug anyone.”

“I drank a lot that night, but I remember everything clearly. I didn’t do anything wrong.”

Maverick gently stroked my back, “I believe you.”

After I calmed down, Maverick finally started the car.

I asked him, “Where are we going now?”

Maverick replied, “Let’s just go home. You don’t need to think about anything else right now.”

Half an hour later, the car pulled into a secluded villa.

This was where we had lived since our bonding.

Though we’d been bonded for seven years, this was the first time it truly felt like “coming home.”

I had been studying abroad, and Maverick had been traveling the world for work, so we had spent very little

time together.

It was only when I decided to return that he rearranged his schedule to accompany me back to the Darkclaw

Pack.

The villa was still, untouched since our last visit. No staff had been brought in yet.

Maverick took off his coat, rolled up his sleeves, and walked into the kitchen, “Rest for a bit. I’ll make

something to eat.”

I was a bit surprised, “You cook?”

Maverick glanced back at me, “I learned it while studying abroad… can’t eat takeout every day.”

I sat on the living room couch, watching his busy back, mumbling, “I basically did…”

My marriage to Maverick had begun by chance.

Seven years ago, after the Darkclaw Pack sent me away, I was alone, carrying the weight of the scandal, the

online hatred, the pressure of rebuilding a life.

There were nights when the darkness felt too heavy, when I wondered if it would ever lift.

Then I met Maverick.
