Approved for Her Rejected for Me novel Chapter 44

Chapter 3

I stepped back from Alpha Lee’s approach. Without Silas’s public protection, even basic respect slipped from my grasp.

“Silas told me to hand you a flower,” Lee drawled, baring the tips of his fangs.

“I ignored him. I warned you before. Stop circling around that boy and look at me instead. But you never listen. How does it feel now? Humiliating?”

A cold ripple spread through my chest. Lee was infamous for sleeping around, and he was a crude, thick-necked brute who smelled of stale ale and desperation.

Silas knew Lee had designs on me. Yet he still allowed Lee to offer me the Moonlily, the flower chosen by the Moon Goddess herself.

Was Silas not afraid I might truly become Lee’s Luna? Even if he did not want me, how could he throw me straight into hell?

“If you’re not giving me a Moonlily, then just leave me alone.” My voice went cold. If Lee gave me one instead, I could work with him.

I needed only three years to secure the Silvermoon Pack for myself.

But our exalted Luna saw me as a thorn she could not tolerate. She refused to give me even a breath of space. She wanted me exiled as quickly as possible.

Lee placed a greedy hand on my shoulder.

“Freya, why pretend you’re above anything. You’re a hybrid by-blow. I can take you however I want. You still

expect Silas to protect you forever.”

“He already chose someone else. Take my advice and pick a new master.”

His hand slid toward my waist. Before he touched me, Silas appeared and slammed Lee’s arm away. A low

growl vibrated in Silas’s throat. “Lee, I warned you. She is mine.”

Lee stumbled back, embarrassed and furious. “Silas, we’re friends. You picked someone else. Let me have

some fun with Freya.”

“Get out.” Silas’s eyes flared with a predatory gleam, fangs threatening to break through. Lee retreated, unwilling but afraid to stay.

Silas’s grip tightened on my wrist, his Alpha aura flaring in a suffocating display of dominance. “He touched you. Why didn’t you fight back?”

What was left inside me was nothing but disappointment. “Wasn’t that your idea. Obviously he assumed you were giving me away.”

Silas dipped his head and pressed a kiss to my forehead.

“Why would I give you away. They all know you’re my true mate. I’ll have someone escort you home. You’re

too beautiful to stay here safely.”

His words were too intoxicating. I caught his hand. “With you here, I’m safe. Silas, listen to me. Tomorrow I…”

Before I could finish, Vivian bounced back into view. “Silas, I want a drink. Can I?”

Silas pulled his hand away immediately and walked toward her like a perfect gentleman. “Of course. Tonight

you’re the star. Whatever you want.”

He threw me a final glance. “If you need something, tell me tomorrow. We’ll settle this back at the pack

house when the sun rises.”

I curled my lips and set the rose he’d given me gently on the cold stone railing.

Tomorrow, the only place he would find me was the far North. In the cage of the ruthless Alpha of the Icefield

Pack.

Silas went to arrange guards to escort me home.

The moment he left, Vivian’s expression shifted entirely. Gone was the timid little girl. She toyed with the

Moonlily Silas had given her as she spoke.

“Freya, leaving already. You stayed with Silas for more than ten years, but one request from me outweighed

all of that.”

She twirled the flower in her fingers, mocking.

“It’s your own fault for being greedy. I am a pure-blooded wolf, yet even I only dared ask for one night of his

protection.”

“But you, a disgusting hybrid by-blow, actually dreamed of having him for a lifetime.”

I looked at her in silence.

To think Silas sponsored her only because we stumbled upon her being sold on the black market by her own

parents. I had felt pity for her and begged Silas to save her.

I had pulled a starving snake from the cold, only for it to sink its fangs into my throat the moment it grew

warm.

Vivian read the contempt in my gaze and snapped. “I wasn’t born into wealth, but I work hard. I have good

grades. I’m pretty. Far prettier than a mutt like you.”
