Chapter 4
I lowered my head, and the tears finally slipped free. Silas’s expression wavered with guilt. “Don’t worry. I’ll
talk to your father. I won’t allow them to hand you to anyone else. You’re mine.”
If in Silas’s mind, the Moonlily he gave Vivian did not carry the meaning of choosing her as a Luna candidate,
then…
I swallowed the bitter remains of my dignity, offering him one last chance to save me. “Can you go ask
Vivian to return the flower. Silas, this is the only thing I’m asking for.”
He looked genuinely surprised and a little troubled.
“That’s not appropriate. I already gave it away. I’ll drown you in flowers tomorrow if that’s what it takes to
stop this tantrum. Don’t fight with Vivian over it.”
I was not fighting Vivian for anything. I only wanted that flower.
The one given at the Bonding Gala carried ancient magic. I needed to take it home and show it to my cold
Alpha father. It was my only way to beg him not to send me to the frozen North.
Any other flower meant nothing.
The fury I had swallowed all night finally erupted. “Silas, if you couldn’t give me the flower, you shouldn’t have
promised. I could have asked someone else for help.”
He was my true mate, yes. But that did not mean he was my only choice.
Silas’s smile vanished. He stepped forward with possessive dominance. “Freya, no one but me dares want
you. You are branded by my shadow. No other male would dare touch what is mine.”
The pain inside me grew unbearable. Everyone knew it. Yet he still rejected me.
Deep down, I had always known that Silas loved me, but not enough. He carried the pride of an Alpha heir. He
could never accept a hybrid bastard as his future Luna.
I had clung to hope for years. I had lied to myself again and again. But tonight… I finally woke up.
I took a step back, not expecting to bump into Vivian. She staggered.
Her Moonlily slipped from her hand. She stepped right on it.
She gasped dramatically. “Freya, please don’t be mad at Silas. If you want it, I can give it to you. I… oh no. I
stepped on it.”
She burst into tears again. Annoying.
Vivian was talented. She had already received a job offer from the Pack House after graduation. When Silas
became Alpha someday, she would likely become his administrative partner.

She was not the timid, weepy type. But in front of Silas, she played that role flawlessly. And Silas loved it.
He scooped her into his arms. “Freya, it’s just one night. Don’t be unreasonable. She’ll return to her normal
life tomorrow. Right now, go home. You’re making Vivian unhappy.”
I drew a slow breath and smiled at him. “Alright, Silas. Goodbye.”
A bet was a bet. And I lost. If Silas refused to choose me, I would go to the Icefield Pack by my own will.
Silas’s guards escorted me home.
The moment I stepped through the door, the Silvermoon Pack’s Luna, my “mother,” gave me a cold glance.
“Not even one flower. Looks like no one wanted you.”
I lowered my head obediently. She had sent me to the gala specifically to crush whatever hope I still held,
then ship me off to please the brutal Alpha of the frozen North.
“With your filthy bloodline, our pack raised you for eighteen years. It’s time for you to repay us. Go to the North, accept your chains, and pray the Icefield Alpha is quick with his cruelty.”
I returned to the smallest bedroom and began packing. I could not defy her. My biological mother’s life was
still in the Luna’s hands.
My third sister leaned against the doorway like she was watching a criminal. “Mother told me to watch you.
Don’t take anything valuable. Even your dress stays here.”
In front of her, I removed the gown and placed every piece of jewelry into a tray.
The glamorous Freya Ash of the Silvermoon Pack had nothing. They dressed me like a flawless jewel only to
sell me for a good price.
My sister kept taunting. “If I were you, I wouldn’t have gone to the Bonding Gala at all. With your status, why
would any Alpha choose you.”
“Oh, and I heard the Icefield Alpha is violent and bloodthirsty. Countless she-wolves died in his hands. Good
