Once Ethan walked out, Sam immediately told his people to dig into William. The further they investigated, the weirder it got.
Three days ago, Hank had vanished for an entire day. That same day, an account tied to William transferred more than 100 million dollars, and nobody could track where it went.
Hank had also signed a six-month contract with a private security firm, but there were no new bodyguards present around William, at the Goodwin residence, or anywhere near Hank himself.
Everything matched the leads Sam had already dug up. Maybe William really had taken Madison.
The thought iced his veins, and he took his men straight to the Goodwin residence.
William was in the middle of dinner when he noticed Sam heading in his way, his face dark and hostile. He already knew Sam was on edge after days of coming up empty on Madison.
He acted like nothing was wrong, casually blotting the corner of his mouth with his napkin. He took his time before finally asking, "Why are you here so late?"
Sam stared at him for a few seconds. When he finally spoke, his voice was icy. "Where did you take Madison?"
A flicker of surprise crossed William's eyes. He hadn't expected Sam to reach him this fast. Maybe Sam was smarter than he gave him credit for.
Even so, William wasn't about to admit anything.
William leaned back, his eyes suddenly sharp despite his age as he locked onto Sam. "What, you think I'm the one who made her disappear?"
Sam saw the way William reacted and knew he would never admit anything. His patience finally snapped.
He laid out every piece of evidence he found and warned, "Grandpa, you know patience isn't my thing. Tell me where Madison is. As long as she's safe, I let this slide."
William's face darkened, and he glared at Sam furiously. "Are you threatening me?"
"If that's what it sounds like, then yeah," Sam said, ignoring him.
Then he pushed again. "Are you going to let Madison go?"
William let out a sharp, angry laugh. "Great. Perfect. So now you'll threaten your own grandfather because of a woman. What's next? If something happens to her, are you planning to come for me too?"
Sam's brows pulled tight.
