Back in Time to Fall for Him novel Chapter 119

That night, a sharp-looking middle-aged man stepped into the living room at Northcrest Villa, his expression dark and tense. He was William's assistant, Hank.

Hank shot Sam a sour look. "Mr. Goodwin, did I do something to offend you? Why did you break into my house and drag me all the way here?"

Sam sat on the couch like a king on his throne, fixing him with a cold stare. "Where's Madison?"

His voice didn't rise or crack. It stayed flat and empty, and that was what sent a chill crawling down Hank's spine.

Hank tried to play dumb. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

Sam didn't buy it for a second. His voice remained calm, but a quiet threat lurked underneath. "Really? Then why don't you explain what happened to my grandfather's nine-figure fund? Or maybe tell me where the new bodyguards went?"

The moment Hank heard those questions, he knew he couldn't pretend anymore. "I'm sorry. I report to Mr. Goodwin Senior."

The meaning was obvious. He wasn't about to cross William.

Sam narrowed his eyes, staring at him, cold and unblinking. After a long second, he let out a quiet, mocking laugh.

"How loyal of you, Mr. Pelham. Fine. I won't push you. I'll just have your wife and kid spend some time away from you."

Panic flashed across Hank's face as he watched Sam, and the former tensed. "Mr. Goodwin, what are you planning?"

"Relax. I'm just sending them on a little trip," Sam answered lightly, as if it were no big deal.

A trip?

Hank didn't buy it for a second. It was obvious Sam was using his wife and kid to threaten him.

His expression went cold and heavy. "Mr. Goodwin, illegally detaining someone is a crime."

Sam spoke, his tone loaded with meaning. "Mr. Pelham, if you have poor hearing, I can pay for a doctor to fix it."

Hank caught the sarcasm. He pulled in a steadying breath, trying to stay calm. Then something clicked, and his voice dropped. "Since you're being so generous, I'll thank you on behalf of my family!"

The second the words left his mouth, Sam's face darkened, like the whole room soured.

Hank had figured it out. Even if Sam took his family away, he wasn't actually going to hurt them.

Sam let out an angry, bitter laugh. "Mr. Pelham, you really are loyal to my grandfather. I just wonder if he deserves that kind of loyalty!"

Hank kept his mouth shut. He was sure William wouldn't abandon him.

Hank was right. William had already stationed his own people around Sam, and Sam hadn't bothered to hide that he had ordered Hank taken.

Very quickly, William found out what had happened and blew up in his room. "That useless brat! He'd sell his soul for Madison, huh? Fine. Then he won't find her!"

Right after cursing, William called Timothy, who was in Portelisse. "Get Madison out of the country. Right now!"

He knew that once Sam started to doubt him, he'd dig through every property in his name. So before that could happen, he had Madison move out without waiting another minute.

Once she was overseas, it would be too late for Sam to track her down.

Timothy thought it was weird, but he followed the order anyway. Once the call ended, he started calmly prepping for their departure.
