Back in Time to Fall for Him novel Chapter 13

Kaitlyn and Johnny were holed up in a rundown rental.

Kaitlyn's face was twisted with disgust. Upon remembering that she'd been in a villa yesterday and was stuck back in this tiny rental today, she lost it and kicked the couch hard.

"Damn bitch! Madison's just a leech living off her parents' inheritance. She's loaded, so why couldn't she spend a little on me? She actually kicked me out!

"The second my so-called friends found out I was only pretending to be rich, they scrubbed me from their phones! They're nothing but ladder-climbing snobs!

"What, are they lining up to kiss Madison's feet already? Once I get the Quinn family inheritance and take over Quinn Group, Madison will be nothing!"

Kaitlyn was still cursing under her breath when she turned and caught Johnny fawning over the new phone she'd bought him, clutching it like it was a treasure.

The greedy look on his face wiped out any trace of his usual golden boy glow.

"What'd Madison say? Is she still ignoring your calls?" she asked.

Johnny's eyes hardened, and he scoffed. "That bitch blocked my number! I must've spoiled her. Now she thinks she can walk all over me."

Kaitlyn snorted and snatched his phone from his hand. "We can't let a sure thing slip away. That bitch lost her parents when she was young, so she was starving for love.

"Back when you pretended to be some top-tier college guy and gave her a little attention, she fell head over heels. Lately, we got too impatient and slipped up, and that's how she caught on."

Johnny nodded. The moment Kaitlyn brought up the past, his confidence snapped back.

He put on his glasses, slicked his hair back, and narrowed his eyes with a smile. He slipped right back into Madison's gentle, dependable boyfriend.

He nodded at his reflection in the glass, like he'd already won. "She's crazy about me. It's just attention-seeking. I'll ice her for two days, then sweet-talk her. There's no way she won't panic. But…"

Johnny shot Kaitlyn a look and furrowed his brow. "You pissed her off yesterday. Otherwise, she wouldn't think we're…

After seeing Eric get slapped and shoved aside, Madison's gaze hardened. "Kaitlyn, who exactly do you think answers to you?"

Kaitlyn froze, then looked up. A chill flashed in her eyes before she plastered on a sweet smile. "Maddie, perfect timing. They burned the furniture I picked out for you without asking. Hurry up and fire them!"

Madison came downstairs wearing a sneer, walked right past Kaitlyn, and checked on Eric. "Eric, how much do I pay you each month?"

Eric covered his cheek, puzzled. "10,000 dollars," he replied.

Madison nodded and leveled her icy stare at Kaitlyn. "You trespassed and assaulted Eric. He'll be out for at least a month. You'll be paying his lost wages, damages for his emotional distress, and any losses I incur while he's on leave. I'll have someone send you the bill."

Kaitlyn gaped. "W-What? Why should I pay?"

Madison shot her a mocking look and picked up her phone. "Since you won't, I'm calling the police right now."
